FIRST LOLOLOLOLOL

Let's talk about the day England accidentally America, because that's the only exciting thing that ever happened to Europe!!!!!!!!

 No.1836

French Revolution, anyone? I'd say that the Enlightenment contributed a lot to western philosophy, and the philosophies of early Americans.

 No.1837

The reason America holds the world by the balls is because your military invented the interwebs during the Cold War (because it needed a decentralized comms network that was resistant to nuclear weaponry) (not really the reason, I'm just bored out of my skull and talking nonsense, it's 3AM and the theme of /wild/ is about to change anyway).

As for Europe:
-Azns migrating to here centuries before Christ
-Barbarians, fucking Germans bringing about the downfall of the Roman Empire
-WARS
-Fucking hardcore Christianity during the Middle Ages that severely impaired all scientific and philosophical thought for at least 600 years
-WARS WARS WARS
-Renaissance and Enlightenment… but the wars just won't stop anyway
-XX century, we start two fucking WORLD wars, one about general political unrest in the Balkans and the rest of the continent, another about DER LEBENSRAUM FUER DEUTSCHE UBERMENSCH, SIEG HEIL DRITTE REICH.

Dangit, we suck cocks. I'm not a weeaboo, but Asia managed to stay in the shadows for many centuries and it holds about 1/3 of the world's population, so I'd say it's time for them to rise up and soar. Especially the People's lulz Republic of China, and India. It's sad, I know, but I guess it's time for them to dominate at last.

Also, America is boring as fuck. You guys are just a cluster of former British/French/Spanish colonies and your own culture is almost nonexistent if you exclude the native Americans. Eh, I guess at the very least you get to start afresh. You are the New World. USA, USA, USA. Go Eagle Land.

 No.1838

Discussions about politics always has people talking straight out of their ass, always.

 No.1839

>your own culture is almost nonexistent

Whenever someone says this, I wonder if Britain or France or Etc. didn't "have a culture" when they were out conquering everything.

America has a pretty distinct culture imo. Everyone else is just emulating it, at least the modern stuff. The fish don't see the water, etc.

The only candy I got where some dollar store Sprees I bought for myself Tuesday. I also ate some of my pumpkin wedding cake. Good stuff. I'd have some more tonight if it weren't almost 3 in the morning. Tonight's Arkham game lasted a long time; we played using the Kingsport expansion with Helios as our guardian so that was pretty fun

My town has decided that in light of the recent hurricane to post-pone Halloween until Friday.

I didn't even know you could do that. Seems I get to have two extra days of spooky revelry this year.

We don't think our room will be finished by the time Halloween rolls by so we can't have the Arkham Horror party we wanted. I'll be just married so me and my husband are gonna sit around and watch the first couple Hellsing Ultimate movies (because I bought them forever ago and never get the time to watch them).

Never ending up watching those movies. Instead I cleaned our room with our new vaccum and we put our new sheets on the bed.

That was after we played a little Arkham Horror. We fought against Glaaki (pretty early in our game due to too many gates opening up) and won.

Then we carved pumpkins. Mine's the one on the left that I made to look like Jack Frost.

Is anyone going to watch scary movies this year? What are your favorites?

I'm going to watch The Shining next week, as it's one of my favorite movies. I'd like to watch Ghostbusters as well, and maybe Young Frankenstein (if it is shown on TV). I usually watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show at some time around Halloween, too, but I've never seen it in a theater.

sorry for not completely related picture

As someone who really loves the original movies, this movie gets too much flak. It has some really creepy parts. [spoiler]the kid puts on the mask in that test chamber
That ending is pretty good too, did not expect that.

Personally, I think it's more about the hammy acting, shoddy overall plot and cardboard evil guy. Still decent tho imo.

Fuck, I hate Halloween.

It's simply an excuse for shit-heads to go around vandalising whatever they can.
Not to mention feeling obliged to hand out sweets to children and if you don't want to partake in that then suddenly you're an asshole and risk getting your house egged or whatever.

Yeah depends on where you live. I'm way out in the boonies (actually nah not really but we're far enough away that nobody ever trick or treats here, you gotta go more into town for that).

I dunno have a party with friends (we do Arkham horror parties but we might be doing some Pathfinder Halloween themed stuff who knows). Or if you have nobody to hang with, just sit on the couch with a bag of candy and watch scary/classic/dumb Halloween movies all night.

I use to go Trick or Treating until I was 20 (I had younger siblings so nobody cared) but recently I've just gotten lazy and go to parties my fiance has been hosting. It's a great excuse to get everybody together and have fun. Heck maybe we'll get to watching those Hellsing OVAs I got like forever ago

 No.1817

I could see how it'd suck if you've got vandalization to worry about, but that's never been an issue where I live, so it's an alright holiday for me.

Probably was more enjoyable when I was young and went trick-or-treating, but it's not too bad now, since there aren't too many trick-or-treaters where I live (most of the kids probably grew up just as I did), so I usually just buy a couple bags of favorite candy, then wind up having 2/3rds of it left over to snack on the next half a year or so.

Then there's the horror relation it has, which is is kinda a double-edged sword. Sometimes you have an interesting special feature or a cool new release, while other times it causes people to overdo silly jumpscares or gags that might be somewhat amusing at first, but wind up seeming lame after awhile, and're never really scary to begin with.

 No.1818

Turn the house lights off if you don't want kids ringing your doorbell all into the night expecting handouts. That won't stop them, however. There are always a few people who ring every doorbell.

 No.1819

File: 1349335711132.png (75.92 KB, 197x168, i have no mouth and i must….png)

op must live in some kinda messed up neighborhood. we don't even get any pumpkin smashers. or maybe a couple if your neighbors are just dicks, who knows. so far all the neighborhoods we've lived in dont really get trick or treaters, at most all we do is see decorations or so around every other house.

i can see why it's lost some of its appeal though. i used to like halloween because hot diggedy damn candy and costumes. i dont really dress up or trick or treat anymore cause i got too old for it but i did celebrate it a few years ago by going for a hayride and navigating a corn maze, as well as a haunted house in general. high possibility i'll just be carving pumpkins and staying home sweets-less this year. could be worse.

 No.1820

fuk da ploleec. Where im at in the wonderful state of California, my street is full of old people so no kids go down my cul-de-sac, even if we gave out full on fuckin candy bars.

This year, instead of trick or treating as the town terrorist (which i still am), im just going down to Hollywood with my girlfriend and clubbing and shit till my band plays
