When I was in high school I agreed to take care of my friend's pet hermit crabs while he was on vacation. At the end of the summer I brought them to school to give them back, but I left them sitting in the back seat of my car all day in in 90 degree weather. Amazingly, one of them actually survived. I still felt terrible.

Pic related, it's one of the crabs attacking a plastic palm tree in the middle of the night.

So as not to derail the one thread any further, let's continue the discussion regarding posting ponies here. My question for people complaining about it, why don't you just ignore them and treat them like any other picture on an imageboard?

 No.967

no pls.

Take this to ot if you must. This has nothing to do with philosophy.

What do you strive for in life uboachan?

I want to attain absolute harmony with the world and free myself of destructive emotions. I feel as if I must rid myself of all material possessions and comforts in order to attain this. As long as my needs can easily be satisfied I will never get any satisfaction from life. If I were to be deprived of everything then even the simplest of things would fill me with pleasure. I doubt I could live such a life for ever but the experience would at least allow me to appreciate things more. I wouldn't mind living in a secluded Buddhist temple somewhere in the Himalayas for a while.

I fully know that not everyone likes ponies but they don't have to flip their shit when they see pony posters. There are many things I don't really care for but don't get bothered when I see someone posting it
>>993
But this is in a way philosophical, maybe we can move it to a new thread so as not to further distract from the current topic

Because you are more tolerant to things you don't like, doesn't mean people with less tolerance are "autistic".

I'm fairly tolerant myself, as you may have noticed.

One reason I don't like ponies being posted is that they tend to ignite heated discussion which derails everything. (as you noticed)

In these discussions the word "autism" is a double-edged sword, since it can be falsely applied to both sides.

I'll add:

Haters can easily say:
"That show is fucking gay."

While the other side can easily say:
"What? Too insecure that you can't watch it?"

This leads to nowhere.

Instead of reasoning, I could have just done this:

>Posting ponies

And then you would've probably posted a pony with a smug face and "U mad?"

Regard reason as only a tool to achieve what you want.
Don't be afraid of self made contradictions, most people don't notice.
It is better to excel at simple tasks than to attempt tasks that many others have failed at.
Proceed with caution.
Abide to the will of Dormilia (within reason)

Dormilia's will:
acquire ownership of all energy, all mater, all life, and all knowledge.
"because I want to" isn't just the best reason, its the only reason.
Do not let empathy or remorse get in my way
give me existence

we can't be sure of anything

if you want a for-sure definition, please kill yourself

newton's laws etc are still theories.

but if you believe in magnets then trust me when I say that there are a lot of miniscule forces that'happen' (we don't know why) to make everything work.

I myself am also deterministic. I am confused as to where people who understand physics get the notion that we, as people, have free will. If randomness exists, it only exists at microscopic levels. But I digress.

I've not heard of either of these. However, I spent about 30 minutes looking at the two, and that makes me an expert on the internet.

Stoicism is the only one that makes sense to me. Where the hell does free will come from? We're just conglomerations of physical and chemical processes. It's hard to fully grasp, and even I haven't yet. I also like the Stoic idea of Casual Determinism. I mean, sure, if you 100% knew that a future event would take place, then you could do whatever, but your whatever either caused or had no effect on the outcome. If you're "fated" (Although specific planned fates don't exist either) to be rich, and you knew this and became lazy, then somehow the process of knowing your fate and being lazy was entirely involved in your richness. Or it's an external thing. Or whatever.
