To be able to love and hate everything at the same time.

>>971>Well, it doesn't really matter, does it?No, it doesn't. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves while we are alive. Take that fact too seriously and you may as well just leave this planet now.
>eventually we're going to discover immortality, and at that point we'll be able to give our lives meanings. The meaning you give your life then will just be as meaningless as the meaning you give it now. How much the meaning means all depends on the individual. And immortality does not mean immunity to death. If a steam roller crushes you immortality wont save you. Death will remain just as apparent as ever. And good God I hope we never discover the secret to immortality That will be a terrible day.
No.973
>>972In my opinion, immortality isn't that bad. I'm one of those who hope for it, actually. I think one century [in the lucky case] is too short of a time to really understand life.
Unless life is meaningless and we're nothing but dangerous parasites of our planet.
No.974
>>972But you and I will die and then everything we did for ourselves would be for naught. When your brain decomposes, there's nothing.
But I personally believe that technology will advance to the point where, barring accidents or wars, people won't die. They, they get meaning. You and I don't. Which is alright. We can just make stuff better for future generations, and speed up the time until people can truly give their own lives meanings. That ultimately makes me happy anyway, so it works.
No.975
>>973Are we making the assumption that we will also discover how to stop ageing? Because once you reach 80-100 you eventually become incapable of leading an independent life or doing much of anything really. Hardly a way I would like to live till the end of time.
Also, with immortality comes the inescapable problem of overpopulation and the drainage of resources.
If we are to assume that science has also miraculously solved these problems then we still cannot forget about the trait known as motivation. Just how long can you stay motivated? The average person feels content with their life once they reach old age. Are people really going to be able to go another century or two without losing the will to do what they love? I presume even the most energetic of persons will have become bored with the world by the time they reach 300.
I can assure you that the majority of people will turn to suicide after a certain amount of time.
No.976
>>975Yes, we're making the assumption that we can stop aging. That's pretty much required for a practical immortality people would adopt.
If, as you say, people lose motivation in life, then wouldn't that mean there isn't any meaning to life after all? If there were meaning, people would be living like that as long as they could.
No.977
>>976There is no defined meaning to life. Life only has meaning if you give it meaning.
And I wouldn't say that the loss of motivation also comes with the loss of meaning. One could still have meaning yet become too tired to live by it.
No.978
>>977So it still doesn't matter.
No.979
>>978No, it doesn't matter, nor does anything else for that matter.
No.980
We're a bit off topic here. This thread is obviously for those on Uboachan who give meaning to life.
No.982
>>981Come now, we have a good thread going here. Let's not bring stupid jokes into it.
No.983
>>982wow i was bein serious, dickhole.

No.987
>>986If you don't know tho this cheerful young fellow is, then please stop using that trip.
I'll translate:
Too many tripfags and ponyfags around here, don't do it my good man.
Anon is best (with a bad untranslateable pun, sorry about that)
No.988
>>987Wise words my friend.
No.990
Why do people like ponies so fucking much?
No.991
>>989Close enough.
Still:
Using trip is borderline acceptable if you SERIOUSLY want to get recognized.
Posting ponies as reaction pictures outside pony-related boards is just wrong.
Avatarfagging is annoying also, be it from anime or ponies or whatever.
>>990I see it as western equivalent of "moe".
My issue with the whole Pony trend is the fanbase, which in many cases can be quite obnoxious.
No.994
>>992Don't use the word autist since it has lost it's meaning.
As you may have noticed, there ACTUALLY are people who don't like the show.
That's right. Not everyone likes the same things you do, and not everyone dislikes the same things you dislike.
These are called opinions.
What do you dislike? How would you feel if I posted pictures of the subject vaguely described as reaction pictures?
No.995
>>994I fully know that not everyone likes ponies but they don't have to flip their shit when they see pony posters. There are many things I don't really care for but don't get bothered when I see someone posting it
>>993But this is in a way philosophical, maybe we can move it to a new thread so as not to further distract from the current topic
No.996
>>995Because you are more tolerant to things you don't like, doesn't mean people with less tolerance are "autistic".
I'm fairly tolerant myself, as you may have noticed.
One reason I don't like ponies being posted is that they tend to ignite heated discussion which derails everything. (as you noticed)
In these discussions the word "autism" is a double-edged sword, since it can be falsely applied to both sides.
>>993I wouldn't say that this thread was going places. See:
>>981>>982>>983I apologize nonetheless.
No.997
>>996I'll add:
Haters can easily say:
"That show is fucking gay."
While the other side can easily say:
"What? Too insecure that you can't watch it?"
This leads to nowhere.
Instead of reasoning, I could have just done this:
>Posting poniesAnd then you would've probably posted a pony with a smug face and "U mad?"
No.999
>>996>>995The thread may have been slowly going off topic before, but it turned into landslide when you two arrived. So yes, please go somewhere else if you don't mind.
