Anyone know of any instances of real life people having the name Madotsuki, or kids being named after Madotsuki?

Picture unrelated.

Name her "Madeline" but pronounce it "Madoline" and call her mado as a nickname

Better idea - call her Rezubian, if for some reason she would have to go to Japan it could be kinda funny. :P

No, really, don't call yer' childs Madotsuki, you can the same way call them "Windows".

 No.1734

I've seen a theory which besides other things stated that her actual name was Madoka. That's a cute alternative.

But isn't that an allusion to the maneki-neko?

 No.1716

I don't think the cat effect means her eyes are necessarily red, but I do think it's a fitting color and usually looks pretty good

Allusion or not, it's the only time in-game she opens her eyes.

Hi /mado/ I’ve recently watch the show Gravity Falls and find a striking (and morbidly funny) similarity (design wise) between Madotsuki and Mabel Pines. I was wondering if anyone could share some fan art showing this crossover.

How long do you think her braids are? Need to know for a cosplay. The sprites don't give alot of information. Also, what color socks do most people seem to think?
Sorry, English is not my first language.

There's no definite answer, so you're free to go with whatever you want. I've seen art and cosplays of Mado with braids of all length. They can be as short as just to the shoulders or long enough to reach her hips. Althouhh the most popular length seems to be to the middle of her back.

Her socks always seem to be either black or white. Both colors are equally common.

Basically, just do whatever you think looks best. Madotsuki is a very flexible character.

 No.1723

i'm using my fukawa (dangan ronpa) wig to cosplay madotsuki and her braids are about to her hips, but really any length could work.

How old do you think Madotsuki is?

I always pictured her being around 11, whereas I picture Sabitsuki around 16, Urotsuki around 15, and Chie around 8.

 No.1638

~10.

Birthday parties and the like seem important to her. She plays videogames, presumably in the late 80s/early 90s when games were marketed to a younger audience. (This is related to my theory that the events of the game take place circa 1990.) If there's any sexual things going on in the imagery she has a dim and fearful understanding of it at best.

If she were more past puberty I'd expect more romantic things to be found in her dreams. Pretty boys, perhaps. And no Corpse-san doesn't count, he's just a face down dead guy.

I will admit being biased by the fact that Vomit Girl was the first image I saw of Mado, but I do feel that the game supports an age of roughly 10 for the character.

>Pretty boys, perhaps.

Why not pretty girls?

 No.1647

I personally think around 18-19 or so.

 No.1720

anywhere from 11-18 but i'd probably go with 13 or 14
sabitsuki around 16 or 17

 No.1721

I would say that she's more likely to be in the 12-15 age range. Things like birthday parties and video games still matter to her, but the amount of despair her dreams relay about the violent things she's seen, as well as the possibly sexual nature of some of the objects she encounters make it difficult for me to believe she could be any younger.

Why does everyone hate the manga edition? I've been a fan of this game for quite a few years, and I'm looking forward to seeing a manga approach to the game.

Also, I kinda like the way she actually talk. I really would love to see in the future more into Mado's psyche.

 No.1704

The manga is ok, but it can't capture the dreamlike atmosphere as well as the game, which was the whole point of the game in the first place.
The weird sound effects, the surreal music, the sense of dread when toringen are chasing after you, is something the manga can't reproduce. YN is one of those games that doesn't translate well into other mediums.
Also the whole game was made vague so that you kind of make up the story yourself.

 No.1708

I actually really like the manga. For what it is (it being giving a plot to a game with absolutely no plot whatsoever), it's pretty good. I like that they gave Madotsuki a bit of a personality, as well.

To those of you saying, "BUT ITS NOT LIKE THE GAME" or "ITS TOO MUCH LIKE THE GAME", how about you grow a pair and make a manga yourself? There's no solid story or character there, so the writer has to come up with one on their own. If they didn't, then it wouldn't be a manga. It'd be a picture-book.

 No.1709

>>1704
To be fair, you can't really incorporate a dream-like atmosphere into a manga. You can't make a manga be like the game, because in a manga there is ALWAYS a story. If a manga didn't have a story and was "up for debate" the way the game is, then it wouldn't be entertaining. It'd just be a bunch of fan-art strung together in a book.

I found this game and fandom a year ago, but i felt too immature and young to join it, so i let it be.

Now it seems like it's dying :(

There is nothing that implies that she is willingly barricaded. Hikki Mado is pure fanon.

 No.1623

There is nothing that implies that she is unwillingly barricaded, either.

And the ending seems more like something a voluntary shut-in would do than someone trapped against their will.

Seriously, man, don't be daft.

 No.1624

>>1622
If she was trapped in her room, there'd be more obvious signs. Such as her banging, or looking more sad or despondent instead of just shaking her head.

 No.1625

>>1624
Maybe she's already tried all that and given up. We don't know at what point in time the game begins, we don't know the circumstances.

It's fine if you like the interpretation of hikkikomori Mado but trying to say it's absolutely canon is laughable.

 No.1528

Its not even scary. If you get scared playing this game them you really need to grow some balls.
Its strange, yes. Scary? No.

 No.1529

FACE is pretty scary. I honestly believe the hype about Uboa being scary is actually just to hide the fact that FACE exists so it makes you shit yourself and think you've somehow broken the game when you encounter it.

 No.1549

Frankly, the reason I liked it in the first place was because it wasn't trying to be outwardly scary like .flow, it was just vaguely unsettling with how unusual things were, kind of like a weird dream.

Oh wait.

 No.1551

Its hard to be scared on the computer.

If I were bundled up in my bed and could play again on a PSP or DS. Oh my, that'd be great.

 No.1569

i don't necessarily think the game itself is scary.
but when i try to think about the intentions of creating a game like this, i can't help but think there is more to it than simple nonsense.

remember, someone (i suppose i could refer to Kikiyama specifically) had to dream up this strange world, and live through this seemingly simple-yet-bizarre game inside their own head. what do you think creates such a twisted thing inside someone's mind?
