I'm not sure if posts of this topic necessitate a new thread, but I haven't seen any here and there are a few video's with Dance/Music very reminiscent of YN out there.

Searching Strong Machine in youtube produces similar videos.

That was pretty cool. I was pleasantly surprised…

I remember namonai ost
The xylophone can sound too much like easy-listening music in the first half. Words in Pictures and White Light are fantastic.

Attenuate's ambient stuff is good. I really liked Mirage. Does he have his own site/soundcloud or is it all posted through the label?

Came across this little album: http://blackchalk.bandcamp.com/album/9doors

Clearly Yume Nikki inspired. Thoughts? Personally, I do think it's dark and all, but I like it because it's unusually catchy. Reminds me of Death Grips a little. I'm a sucker for music like this.

The album itself seems to have little to do with YN, just the cover art is inspired. Think I Heard the Uboa sound effect in there somewhere, that's about it.

Hello; can a mod delete this thread? We both misposted it, and since it was moved here, it's just taking up extra space.

Thanks!

While looking around for info about that recent Yume Nikki Wikki crazy editing by Mt.Kiki, I came across this:

http://kusemonorec.web.fc2.com/download.html

There's a free YN remixes album which, as far as I know, hasn't been posted here before!

These guys have some pretty awesome music around

The drum & bass comp is pretty good.
The Yume Nikki one is entertaining, but too screamin'-bangin' for YN music, in my opinion.

Some clumsy moves here and there (mostly in the sounds you use, they sometime feel pretty "generic". And the ending track, sorry, no) but overall it's bretty good for a debut album. Though I don't understand why so far all of you tend to strictly stick to a "instrumental hip-hop" composition scheme. I'm sure some really good electronic/ambient/techno/collage stuff could be made with a "yumenikkiesque" mood

 No.594

>>591

Thank you, that's very sweet of you. Although I DID refer to this project as a debut album, I really meant a debut production LP. I've done 2 production EP's before that under the name CLXCKWXRK. I'm overjoyed that you've enjoyed the tape.

>>593

You're probably right; although, to be honest, I didn't intentionally pursue a Yume Nikki vibe on this record at all by any means; I did that on Untitled 2 and was kind of done with it afterwards. I guess Yume Nikki'esque themes keep reappearing in my CXWX stuff because I really love that game, haha. As for the instrumental hip-hop scheme, I'm assuming you're referring to me composing 4 by 4 music? I definitely see your point, I was just sort of going for that whole clockwork type of repetitive progression flow or whatever, you know?
Also, by the ending track, are you referring to nyanwxrk? It's a shame that you didn't find it to your lking, as I really enjoyed making it. I find that people underestimate the complexity of the original nyancat piece, and so I had decided to compose my own personal arrangement. I started off with an 8bit direction and built towards a swift orchestral switch-up; the outro was supposed to represent a GAME OVER screen I suppose… I don't know, that's what I was aiming for at least.
Oh and one MORE thing [sorry for such an essay-like response -.-'], but could you be a bit more specific in regards to me using "generic" feeling sounds?

Thank you both for taking the time to listen and for giving me feedback, I really appreciate it.

 No.595

>but could you be a bit more specific in regards to me using "generic" feeling sounds?

Some sonority sound a little too much "out of factory". You know, like unmodified patch/sound straight from Fruity Loops/Reason, or something you heard a dozen of times elsewhere. I thought about 199111X1, HARMXNITRAP and TXCK for this point

>Also, by the ending track, are you referring to nyanwxrk

Yep. It's not that is poorly composed or something like that, I just dislike to see "memetic" shits outside of the web.

But don't sweat it, I just listened it for the third time without displeasure, so I guess it's not important enough to really care.

I'm really thankful that you took the time to listen to my music and critique it the way that you did, good looking out. Perhaps my work in the future will be more to your liking. Thanks again!

Due to unreliability and security issues (that have absolutely no relation to a fear of Mediafire suffering the same faith as Megaupload), I have decided to migrate all my files to Dropbox. I have enough capacity (around 6.5GB) to store a big load of data, so hosting all the essential files (and other things) shouldn't be a problem.

At this moment, all the Mediafire links found in the "Essential Files" thread are down, sorry for the inconvenience.

Finally someone reports a problem.

I actually didn't notice this, since I don't even use Windows anymore. <.<

I don't know how this could be fixed, the problem is that the filenames are in utf-8 but 7-zip doesn't support that encoding. Maybe you could run tar xf on it through cygwin.

 No.550

>>514
Hey, those files in your dropbox aren't gzip, they're only .tar

they're tar.gz

not according to fileroller, they only extract when renamed to .tar

The Yume Nikki and .flow OST links gives me a 404.
