I've been meaning to make a thread for people to describe their dream anime adaptations. Like, pick an existing property, franchise, book, whatever, and say what anime studio or director you'd like to see make a show out of it, or just how you think an anime of it could be done.
Conversely, you can discuss how you'd like to see an existing anime translated into another medium, like a game or a live-acion movie (although those usually suck).
It's fun, mindless brainstorming. I think about this stuff to pass time while I'm at my job. I work at a children's library, and I like to imagine how anime can be made of the books there. It's fun, trust me! It really is! (´・ω・`) I hope.
Let's me start with one of my ideas!
I really think a comedy anime of the children's book series Amelia Badelia would be great if it was made by studio KyoAni, with the same people who made K-On, Hyoka, Nichijou, Chunibyo, ect. The books are about an airheaded young maid who takes everything too literally, which leads to WACKY HIJINKS. Like, someone tells her to draw the curtains (as in pull them back), and she sits down and draws a picture of them. Tell her there's a fork in the road and she's all "Oh my I hope I don't drive over it and pop a tire!". Amelia Badelia reminds me a bit of Yui from K-on, but less lazy with more work-ethic, yet somehow manages to screw up more.
KyoAni is probably the only studio who could possibly make an anime about a maid and not have it be creepy. Well, at least based on their recent endeavors.
So! Let's hear YOUR ideas! Do you want a Miyazaki version of LOTR or a BONES adaptation of Metal Gear Solid? Or, for the otehr side of the coin, do you think Tim Burton could make a good movie out of Soul Eater? Do you think he would do it live-action (which would star Johnny depp and suck) or stop-motion animation (and possibly still star Johnny depp and possibly not suck)?
Tell us about it! Go nuts!

>>477yeah I'd love to see some better Ito anime. Some of his stories, like Amigara fault or the one where people stepped in stinky stuff might be adaptable in 30 minutes, so they could do a show with a different story every episode. Like all those goosebumos-esque shows on nickelodeon in the 90's.

>>478Oh gosh that would be AWESOME
His museum of horror collection alone has some 94 chapters. They can be hit or miss in the scary department and be more fridge horror or even comedy (like the ice cream truck one or any of the Souichi stories) but in a Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark sort of way it would totally work!
I guess in a sense Mimi's Ghost Stories felt that way. Not too horrifying but still unsettling. Ah he's just got so much stuff nobody's doing anything with D:<
It's a sheer crime his stuff hasn't all been published overseas

>>479I've seen Gyo and Uzumaki around book stores here a few times, but yeah never anything else.
I love somewhat-goofy but slightly unsettling horror. Or stuff that's more uncomfortable than anything, it's more fun than a straight-up scare. Glyceride makes me gag every time I read it and it's brilliant
