I dug out old 2004 PC and laptop from the closet and it looks like everything works. Is it even worth setting up a CRT moniter in 2024? I miss those chunky old beige and black boxes but do they have any use outside of retro gaming?
No.8593
>>8590I’m in my mid 20s and my first pc was a 98 beige tower. I grew up with vhs and cassettes. It’s genuine nostalgia for some of us y’know.

The laptop is surprisingly functional with a damaged but usable screen. Boots to Windows XP fine. I even remembered my password. I guess I'm going to throw a Linux distro on it but which one to pick?
>>8590The only thing I hate more than nostalgia googles and "aesthetic" posters are people who whine about "Gen Z" as if its a meaningful label and not something invented by marketers to sell you shit.

more /bst/s i like.
>>8590agreed, but some of the zoomers i know grew up poor or in rural areas so they grew up with older tech.
>>8592hell yeah, use it for watching retro films and playing retro games.
>>8602how are these items not cute? you can always add stickers and personalize the tech??

>>8662waow!!! this your puter? i would love to have a dedicated setup, unfortunately i live out of a shithole house with my parents taking care of an arboretum for a weird pacifist christian group. They're very nice, but they have a weird anarchist way of deciding what happens with the premises, so very little has happened and now im stuck in Australian heat with no aircon and a room that used to be a porch. So getting a nice setup going is the least of my worries.

I'm considering buying a tablet with a stylus since its so much easier to write Hanzi or in Arabic with those than type. But I have no idea if I should purchase one or not? I mean, they all look like garbage. You can't install your own OS on them and they a glorified e readers or gigantic smartphones.

>>8828damn. what a shame. i miss legacy switch version too. i don't mind bedrock but the tiny worlds and little quirks were so charming. thanks for the mod, i find java combat untenable, does it fix that?
No.8832
>>8830If I knew what Bedrock would become, I would keep up the Legacy version without any doubt. And no, the 1.9 combat will stay on during sex until it (probably) get ported to older versions.

>>8832I am genuine;y really miffed about the marketplace. It could have been such a good way for creators to make money off of modding but instead we get Epic Hacker Tools add-on 9000 420 or whatever.
No.8836
>>8835yeah… it's a shame. it does have some pretty good stuff, like wireless multiplayer and imo nicer ui but it's so overshadowed by all the slop being forced down your throat that it hardly feels justified.
