I think the biggest issue with 95% of 2kki's maps (even including most of the old maps, and the beloved ones by people like wataru) is there isn't a lot of stuff to do in them, they just feel something you walk past to get somewhere else and nothing happens in them.
Think about the Number World and White Desert in yume nikki, you could spend like 25 minutes in each of those worlds doing all the events.
Number World alone has:
>the kyuukyuu-kun room, which itself is multiple ideas in sequence
>the room full of almost 200 NPCs you must stab through all of them to get to the little mountain thing
>the sub area full of lamps and a chunk of the number world's wall structures floating in the void
>room full of beds where you can try for the staircase of hands
>a unique friendly toriningen that only gets angry when stabbed
>two different places to get teleported to when caught by said toriningen
>the guillotine area where you get chased while trying to look for the effect and find the exit wardrobe, the guillotine area itself also having a rare variant you can only see 1/8 times
>the river with the snail in it that's extremely rare to see
All that in addition to the world's extremely interesting base concept of making numbers creepy. I know not every world in yume nikki is like this but almost all of them have at least like 2 things to do in them at minimum. They feel like actual places where things can happen.
What worlds in 2kki have that level of detail? The only one I can think of right is Flying Fish World. It would be a much better game if more authors tried to follow that example. Most of 2kki just feels like unfinished worlds.
