Not OP but kinda in the same boat, looking for a dedicated server for hosting game servers (minecraft, l4d, starbound, whatever floats my baot) as well as potentially some variety of livestream software and an irc. Not exactly sure what I should be looking for spec-wise.

If youre looking for hosting for a cheap personal website thingie, theres lots of them around just keep looking.

Heloihost and 000webhost were good, but that was years ago idk if they even still exist and cant remember the url.

If you wanto host realtime or company/organisation stuff thats a different story.

So, i got a lot of things to hide, and I was thinking about switching from GNU/Linux to OpenBSD + encryption.

I was about to download it when I faced two options: minimal or minimal + sets.
Is it like GNU/linux netinstall?
Will it download the whole system and let me choose what I do want and what I do not?

Will it also let me choose encryption or is it automatic?

why not just use a regular encryption software like anon above suggested? encrypt your drive and on top of that 128-bit encrypt your super sekrit data. something that'll take 300 years to decrypt.
Also BSD is kinda hard even if you know linux already, because many tools are quite different and many of them are configured in such a way that you need to use switches for things gnu tools detect automatically.
They're pretty much like netinstall yes. I tried FreeBSD and couldn't configure dhcp for the life of me. I ended up coming back to gentoo

Encrypting your harddrive isn't hard but it's not given as an option in the installer. Follow the OpenBSD section of http://www.bsdnow.tv/tutorials/fde

Do miniroot + sets.

To include 1 and or 3 you have to put greater or equal to signs right. So it should be x <= 1 || x >= 3 because that will include 1, 3 everything inbetween and before. At least I am pretty sure, I haven't programmed in a couple of months and the JVM is really retarded and confusing sometimes.
