It's something basic, as basic as updating the date. You own the copyright of your game, so naturally you want to express that you own all the rights. Especially if it's something well known. It's like, in the 101 of game development and what you should do. I mean, even the devs of YNDD are addressing it correctly.

I admit to not seeing much of the Yume Nikki fandom beyond this site and the Steam community, but outside of this site I don't think I've ever seen anyone who genuinely believes the fraud theory, and I doubt this site represents the majority of the English-speaking fandom, let alone the entire fandom.
