What the fuck is that noise and why does that keep playing the whole time. I'm watching a trailer, not rubbing my dick.
No.701
You know, i've tried to stay positive. "It's not a pachinko at least!", I said. "It's not another anime! We're getting an actual game!! This is gonna be so cool!!"
This trailer is really not something I wanted to see.
I want the game to be faithful to the original concept of Yume Nikki, which was abstract adventuring in dreamscapes. Nothing made sense necessarily but there was character and emotion involved.
Yes, having the game put into a different perspective is a great idea, but after this trailer, I can definitely see why people are concerned about the "soul" of Yume Nikki being preserved.
It's just trying too hard to be something it isn't supposed to be.

Trailer and the recent screenshot made me think that maybe Madotsuki has a small chance of sharing her dreams with Monoe everytime she goes to bed. Might be cool.
No.715
>>713I don't like how it gives certain characters more importance simply because they are human or popular with the fandom. It's as weird as making Masada a major character in the manga or Poniko in the light novel. There are other NPCs in the original game with just as much if not more presence compared to Monoe, but characters like Hat and scarf girl, Mars or the little following ghost can fuck off apparently

No.743
I'll admit, I kinda laughed at this trailer. The way the little blob rolled is just silly. Plus Kyukyukun looks even more like a dildo now.
>>715Yeah, I'm not a fan of that either. Granted, Monoe is my favorite human npc, but I don't want her to take a lot of the spotlight like Poniko did in the light novel. (Actually, Poniko probably took most of it) This is Madotsuki's dreams, after all.
No.744
regardless how the game turns out. I can't wait to see the new fan art that will spawn from this. the music and art fans made over the years are something I hold as dear as the game itself.
Speaking of which, is the booru still getting new stuff? or is there a better source besides twitter I should watch for new art?

i don't know how to feel about this. i'm honestly excited about the game but this trailer is… bad. it feels sloppy, like something that was slapped together with hardly any effort. if they can't put some more effort into a trailer, what is the game going to be like?

>>752Not only that, everything is done so lazily. For a game being made by a company that specializes in translating video games, they're reeeally doing a good job for Kikiyama's seminal release. A reveal trailer is supposed to reveal the most exciting parts of your game without spoiling it, and if this is what your game has to offer, it's going to be boring as hell. How are these idiots going to handle unorthodox-looking areas like the Graffiti and Block Worlds or the White Desert if the areas they've shown look like hot garbage?
Now I will say, the one of the only good things about this shit is the concept art. It looks pretty damn good and I wish they put that same amount of effort into the game like they did with the artwork. The other is that we might see some concept shit that Kikiyama made while developing the game.

I am trying my best to stay positive, and not judge until the game is actually out, but every time they release new information it looks more and more like they didn't understood what the original game was about.
I thought at least the music would be fine after seeing the first trailer, but after today's trailer I am even worried about that.
Anyway, I think it's best to hold off with the opinions, there are just 3 weeks left, it's better to just wait.
No.763
>>752sort of branching off what you said about catering to youtubers and Ironic Weebs- ive thought about this and i dont think that approach works here, even if that happened to be the intention. this re-imagining has some odd design choices, and there seems to be two main opinions about them already- it looks like shit, or it has a weird intentional dreamcast/ps1 graphic scheme that still likely wouldnt appeal to a majority. despite possible character changes like you described with monoe, i still think this game would be too hard to turn into the next "big thing" just based on how it looks already. even if this game is garbage, i feel like the game being garbage is the worst case scenario
and yeah, though the direction this game is moving in makes me skeptical with each new announcement, i still feel their hearts are in the right place with this project. basically, it could very well be bad, but i cant imagine itd be embarrassingly awful, either. maybe mediocre or just alright

The worst thing is that even though the original game will always be there as the YN I know and love, its reputation will go down the drain thanks to this new thing - you'll never be able to say that you like Yume Nikki again without someone immediately associating it with Yume Nikki Yume Nikki.
And judging by the "Kikiyama themselves" bit, my guess is that the approval process went like this:

>>808How a company chooses to present a game says a lot about the game itself. While that may not always be the case, we've seen this time and time again. Mighty number nine had a shitty trailer, and the game was shitty. Sanic boom played like shit at the expo, and the game was shit. This trailer definitely isn't the worst thing ever, but parts of it are cause for concern.
No.836

I think for me at least a big cause of alarm was the really shitty music. If that's seriously the in-game OST it's already dead in the water.

I am also hesitant about the new game, particularly if it's in 2.5D, but the graphical styling reminds me a little of weird-looking 90s CGs, which seems like the only appropriate way to translate Yume Nikki into the third dimension IMO.
No.870
>>869Yes you're right, but as someone else said in the other thread, the style should be a bit more minimalistic/cartoony, it looks too realistic looking at the screenshot.
No.871
I am a little concerned about the graphics and such, but I do have hope for this game. Sure, the actual gameplay in the gameplay trailer was a discouraging (like KyuuKyuu-kun, what the fuck?), But for all we know, the graphics may not finalized, yet. The elements Yume Nikki had may be still be there, with a new coat of paint, with additional things (weather they're better or worse, has yet to be seen, though). Plus, there are a lot of games, where they had good trailers, but ended up being absolute shit, and vise-versa.
But we'll just have to wait and see…

>>874The left one confuses and worries me. There wasn't any high school in yn, right? There was also that picture taken from the interior of a hallway with Monoko. The left one is actually nice, but tells little about the actual game.

I'm pretty sure when she's awake, her eyes are open, but in the dream world they're closed.
If you looked at one of the Twitter account's previous avatar's, it was one of Madotsuki holding her umbrella effect, with her eyes closed, which I assume means that when she's asleep they're always closed.
No.927
>>913>>917This is going against everything the fanbase has assumed but nothing in the game outright implies her eyes have to be closed.
Look at Monoe's sprite here. Her eyes are drawn the same way as Madotsuki's, but we know hers are 'meant' to be opened. Like everything else in the game Madotsuki's face is up to interpretation.
What I like in the YNDD art is that her eyes are sort of half-lidded, which reflects the sprite's eyes.
