I suppose that could be cool yeah, but you could argue it takes away from the quote unquote intended yume nikki experience since unused content was obviously cut because Kikiyama didn't think it represented his vision.
What I mean is that some could argue that by modifying the game to have extra things Kikiyama didn't wish for that'd it be a completely new piece of work and maybe even insulting to Kikiyama?
I don't know, I think it's a solid argument since it's not a game like minecraft for example that has built in user expansion support.
I think it'd be neato though.

Vandalizing the author's work is exactly the kind of thing western fans are often disliked by eastern creators.
Not to mention the point of view of what "improvements" imply can vary.
Not that you'd have the willpower to go and do this anyway.

Deluxe still implies that this is some sort of definitive/superior version, maybe another name like "encore" would be a better fit.

You fail to realize the shocking truth about all of this, and that is, someone would have to spend time of their day actually making it.

I'm writing a free software replacement for Yume Nikki
Once it's complete, maybe the community could then come up with an extended version of its' own
The version i'll release will be based on the last released version (0.10), with the intention of preserving the original game as it is right now

>>9533>I'm writing a free software replacement for Yume NikkiWhy? If you're autistic about FOSS, you could just run YN through EasyRPG.
>Once it's complete, maybe the community could then come up with an extended version of its' ownYou can just open the game up in (Easy)RPGMemer and do the changes one wants.

>>9534The game code for Yume Nikki is proprietary, even though EasyRPG Player is free. That is, the LDB, LMT and LMU files which contain stuff like tile placement, collision data, switches, variables, and most importantly, events, which is effectively a programming language and therefore these files count as software.
There are absolutely no RPGMaker games that are free software, except for .flow, so I’m basically starting with nothing.

I don't think the original Yume Nikki really needs any adjustments. However, I would like to see some kind of condensed "best of" version of Yume 2kki. It's a great game but it's nowhere near as concise and focused as YN and many other fangames are. Not saying they need to do away with the regular version because I like it too and the huge dream world is pretty cool, but sometimes it can feel daunting to navigate through.
