Meh, the dream world itself is timeless.
The CRT, console, and lack of a PC seemed pretty intentional.

Yume Nikki seems to take place in the late 1980s/early 1990s, if Madotsuki was a 2000s girl she would just be on the internet rather than dream all day.
That said, it would probably launch on a newer game engine and be ignored by the general public in the ever growing pile of itch io games.

Anyway today demakes and 1-bit games have an audience so I don't think that a Yume Nikki launched in this age would necessarily go through major changes

I mean, you can live in 2026 and still publish a game where a certain level of tech still hasn't been reached
