It's just occurred to me a few weeks ago that if we ever witnessed magic, it would always just be explained away. Everything has a cause. Fundamentally, when you get down to it, a lot of modern-day technology IS magical; there's no reason that strange liquid crystals should react to electrical stimuli in a way that makes them suitable for displaying images, or that we should be able to transmit information through invisible waves, other than that our arbitrary view of the world explains it away as normal.

Even if magic did exist, we would just expand our worldview in a way that nominalises it as part of science.

OP here. You are a special flavour of retarded. I never said "science is le magic", I said that if we did come across "magic", we would quickly change our worldview to accommodate it as part of scientific doctrine, meaning that it's forever out of reach. You are the autist here buddy. Go lick some bird shit off of the pavement.

I think this is why the supernatural-natural distinction is linguistically deceiving. There are things with ontological status or not. God, the divine and transcendent, non-reducible mind, et cetera, if real, would be a fact of life as cells and the orbit of Earth around the Sun (however they may exist). This is what obfuscates a lot of discussion on the validity of spiritual concepts is that people preemptively decide they cannot exist because supernatural = impossible. Discourse would benefit for both religious and atheistic positions if we just removed the idea of the supernatural as anything more meaningful than a colloquial way to refer to a type of thing.

I agree with you anon because I see it like this:
If God wants to do something in this universe, He will do it through the laws by which He made the universe function. He will make the cycles of nature do His bidding or He will bend them slightly. If He wants a cataclysmic flood, he has to make it rain a lot or raise the Earth's temperature to melt polar ice caps. If He wants rivers to temporarily become poisonous and cause a famine to punish humans, He can set the whole chain in motion with a precisely timed volcanic eruption. The ash blots out the sun, then it falls into the river and poisons it, crops die and people starve.

Even we must obey the laws we set upon our creations in order to affect them. When a computer programmer wants to make a change to a system, he needs to work within the confines of the system in order to change it. If the behavior of a program is defined by a configuration file, then you will alter the way it behaves by editing the configuration file.

All religions and mystical systems state that God is the foundation of all existence - the One who was, is and will be forever. We don't notice gravity in our daily lives, even though it is one of the most fundamental forces in the universe. When you look at it this way, is it really so surprising that most people struggle with the idea of divinity?

Right now the examples given connect perfectly with the topic at hand and are well put together, they don't make claims for or against God, but please be cautious not to turn this into a debate about religion.

Thanks. Honestly I'm kind of retarded so I don't understand half of what these people are saying but it's cool

Which one do you like more, Cynette or Ink-Eyes? Obviously the sexy rat is cute and mono-black has interesting play patterns, but Cynette seems a lot more focused and consistent, plus the art is by a jap which is nice. I've also already got Cabal (shalom) Coffers and Urborg, as well as a bunch of mono-black staples, but if you think Cynette is better I don't mind going in that direction.
