I'm bumping this because musikchan, which is even smaller and slower than uboachan, has an interesting embed feature where people can post the share link of a youtube video and it can be popped out. If they have it, I don't see what's stopping ubuu.

I'm terrible at php, but I wrote up a quick thing if sei wants to edit the software.

It took a bit of time and effort, but I managed to obtain the javascript video embedding code from one of musikchan's admins, along with permission to use it. According to him, it should be easy to add. Both of these are needed.
https://pastebin.com/gEuvpaX1https://pastebin.com/Y3JNzHr5Please mods, i'm begging you. Think about how great it'll be for media. Ready made code, right here. I'm on my hands and knees.

Hey there. This kind of feature is pretty prominent in newer board software and shouldn't be that hard to maintain, even if it was hosted here, but the main issue is the board software itself.
While I'm not a huge expert on vichan, I know its official sites are dead and according to their github, we're actually ahead of their current version somehow (odds are due to Sei knowing the dev and got an early release), their last official update being two years ago on may. And I do know in the past that generally whenever an update happened, or someone poked a bit of code, something broke.
So it's kind of a quandary in that case, because it could cause more problems or be a really nice addition to what I'm assuming is a dead board software. I'll push this along to Sei (since I don't have backend access) and see if he can rig something up, as well as the fact that in the future, we may want to consider moving onto a more modern imageboard software which has this kind of feature natively.

>>3536Yeah, I really don't know how this stuff works. Musikchan uses tinyboard and vivchan 5.1.3. Is it that different from 5.1.4? The admin I talked to(mzrt) said he would help.

>>3536Honestly I've been considering moving to Lynxchan, and even the Vichan devs suggest that new boards should use Lynxchan instead. The issue is that I don't want to have two Uboachan archives and another reset scandal. I would need to write a script to actually migrate all of our posts this time before I would do that.
I'll try to take a look at adding the embed code, but I'm not sure when I'll get to it.
>>3537If you could have that admin shoot me an email about their implementation, it would expedite things.

The Musikchan admin slid me their code, and it looks like it works. Thanks, Musikchan.

Shoot me the format of the posts on both board backends. I could splice together a python script pretty quick.
Hopefully it's some json format (Wishful thinking)

>>3541I think you're a little late to the party. Good to see you're still around though.

>>3542Oh, I meant if you're still thinking about moving over to lynx.

>>3543Oh! That makes more sense. Please do look into that. What we probably really need is a database transformation tool.
Give me your email address, and I'll send you access credentials for Uboachan's database manager so you can poke around. I'll also set up a Lynxchan instance for you to play with.
