No.1980
the bots come every other day and there is no real way to stop it. If there is a spam post it's banned/deleted as soon as someone sees it, but until then, it stays.
There's about 4-5 members of staff checking the boards, and deleting things to the best of our ability. I wish it was possible to blanket filter this somehow, but that's gonna stay in my dreams.
No.1982
It's 80% of what I do when modding, is remove the irritating porn spam bots. I'm pretty certain that tinyboard/vichan supports captchas, but it's something that'd drive you guys nuts to have to deal with. It's sort of the tradeoff. If more people are okay with captchas to get rid of the bots, we can enable it.
No.1983
We get CP spam pretty frequently now. The software has anti-spam countermeasures but since Tinyboard and its offshoots are fairly popular software now those countermeasures have probably been figured out and coded around by whatever douchenozzle writes all the imageboard spambots.
No.1984
Captcha isn't bad choice, how can some people hate using their brain 2 seconds? What's the difference? This imageboard is for adults anyway.

aa, I'm usually pretty good with catching those, but I never go on the nsfw board…
captcha sounds good to me

I'm really not too fond of captcha and such, I often get it wrong and then have to start over…

The same spam was on 4chan and they have captcha.
No.1994
I'm not sure it's worth a captcha, honestly. The spam is really slow. 4chan only added a captcha after the great spam flood that completely filled every board, including /b/. (And that was an intentional attack.)
I'd rather not enable captchas but I'm not terribly against it if it's what everyone wants.
No.1995
Honestly, this place is already so slow, captcha would just make it slower, it seems like an overkill solution, although if there aren't any better solutions…

>>1995I don't think a solution is needed. We can just delete CP when we find it.

Then if they look at your computer history, they'll see that you saw it and immediately reported it. I report it every once and a while just in case >_>

If anything, it would be Admin's job, or just put the captcha thing on and /thread

Alright, I'm convinced. It looks like this could be a legitimate problem for a lot of people. I'll work on enabling the captcha.

>>2006To my knowledge, it's just this one. There's always suggesting alternatives to be integrated into vichan.
To those who are frustrated by this change, here's a little insight from a staff member:
More than half of the bans issued on this site are to illegal content posted by spambots. The IPs are so varied that we can't reasonably blanket ban (which has proven to be flaky at best in the past) without catching users in the middle of it.
If there's illegal content on the site and no moderators are around to remove it, it could stay on the site too long. If it were to get reported to authorities or the server's host, it could potentially have the site taken down.
As it is, the captchas are five digits at most and somewhat blurry. I've sat here and refreshed the captcha dozens of times and they're all numbers, all simple. One number of a few batches were unreadable. One was literally a giant three.
I understand it can be frustrating, but we're not given many other choices. We have a thread over here
>>2002 for feedback and if you have any alternative methods we could employ, we're all ears.

They're still getting through. Time for plan B. Captchas will be dropped.
