Do you ever feel like a complete retard for enjoying a piece of media to its fullest, appreciating its flaws, admiring the effort that went into it, and then going online and seeing everyone think it's the worst thing since the Holocaust???
This was me with the Thirteenth Doctor's series. I really liked her, I thought that the companions, if perhaps a little lacking in development, were fun and distinct, and I liked the vast number of the plots and their pacing. I disagreed with some of the twists (the timeless child reveal was rubbish, and a missed opportunity to give the Master a huge character development) and I thought a few of the plot points and story beats could have been executed far better, but the vision was fantastic.
Then I went online and found out that everyone wants to lynch Chris Chibnall and that the seasons are apparently complete slop and that the Thirteenth Doctor was terribly characterised and that everything sucks and is bad. (Although I do agree that the queerbaiting was soy. I like that RTD has committed to just having a gay doctor.)
Before this, I got a Doctor Who MTG EDH deck with Thirteen and Yaz as the commanders. Now I genuinely can't enjoy it. Are people retarded? Am I retarded for caring about this? Am I so retarded that I should be shot? (Probably that last one.)
But really, please help me out here. I want to be able to enjoy my favourite precon again.
Also, general Doctor Who thread, I guess. Hopefully there are enough anons who like funny british phone box spinning show to keep it alive.
