just post in lainchan, /g/ or 8chan

In my opinion, Cyberpunk is just a marketing term attached to futuristic looking stuff so people buy it.

Only "general" thread we need is Random thoughts

I think that's what it has become, but that's not what it was or what it should be. Cyberpunk died when people started fetishizing dystopia. People do understand that cyberpunk is supposed to be a resistance movement, right? Now people are basically welcoming economic disparity and invasive surveillance with open arms.

To me it seems like some pretentious art movement became mainstream and along away lost it's, "point". The whole cyberpunk thing is basically complaining about problems that don't even exist yet. It's like if I said vaporware was a movement and not just a music trend that lasted from 2014 to 2016. It's a convenient way for people to feel involved in a world that's becoming more and more integrated with technology. It's a lot harder to actually make technology rather than making a bizarre, "resistance", movement against the negative things it could potentially bring. Goverment censorship isn't going to affected by a bunch of faggots in trench coats. Cyberpunk is just a stylistic choice for fiction. Fuck rebellion for the sake of rebellion.

I wish Dramatical Murder wasn't a BL game. I don't mind BL myself but it turns off most people automatically and only attracts fujos and that kind of people.

The setting and over all aesthetic is something I love, not to mention the MC isn't "hax0r". I typically get bothered by the programmer mc thing. The characters are fun and enjoyable but the world really takes the cake in what makes it so good. Nitro+ being the developers helps because that means the production value is high for a VN. The OST is also fantastic and recommend anyone listen to it separately.

I rec it to anyone interested in a cyberpunk series that's not the typical feel but still very dystopian. It has some good philosophical moments that I was not expecting. Beware that there's a lot of bondage/rape/bestiality in there. One of the bad endings is the Aoba being amputated and chained to be with another character for ever. So if you don't want to see gay dudes fuck and rape each other.

I went ahead and made a replacement for jinteki.industries which was something of a cyberpunk directory. I had the cybersecurity advice reviewed by several others, but welcome further criticism and feedback. Thanks.

I think making a lain based board is stupid because lain isn't pure cyberpunk in the least, but rather a surreal mix of different themes with some tints of cyberpunk. If you wanted real cyberpunk, you'd better use something else more solid altogether (even cuties like alice). Instead, all this lain propaganda (i.e. posters, shitty gimp edits, etc) seems like they were made with the intention of using her image because it's easy to relate her as an overpowered entity on the wired (and thus in the internet and anything related to it) while at the same time giving her a personality that most fucking weebs like us can get off with. Imagine if lain was a 200 pound 1337 hacker, would it be as appealing? I think not, they'd probably be using Mokoto as P2501.

"Anything that can be done to a rat can be done to a human being."
As technology progresses that quote only becomes more and more horrifying. I am not looking forward to the future.

 No.17529

>>17528
You really don't need to go that far into the future to find hell… have you ever seen any gore thread? The human body is extremely fragile, and you don't really require sophisticated technology to harm or destroy it, just like a rat. And that thing happens in the real world, in this age, right now; and has been happening ever since who-knows-when. But just because we discovered metals it doesn't mean they are bad; after all we're enjoying our lives thanks to that discovery and the benefits that came with it, even if a knife can behead a man and bullets kill thousand of people. However, the same metal gave us protection in the form of armors in the past, and different materials work against bullets now too. It's all about who uses what in what way. So I wouldn't worry about technology, I'd worry about who possesses that technology and how we can defend against it's potential threats, just as we dealt with metal weapons with engineering against them.

The problem is that the only source of information for those who are not involved in these fields is basically hollywood and other futuristic dystopian movies where "technology is the great evil".
Just because vaccines exist now, birth-rate has increased. In the past, families had to bear about 5, 6 or 7 children because only half or less of them would reach adulthood. That problem has been eradicated, thanks to the advance of technology. Now, we are able to make brain cells from the skin, making regeneration a solid prospect for the future. Maybe a lot of problems that are common now will also be eradicated, yet people only seem to believe on the idea that the government will be authoritarian and use technology against their people. And that's politics, my friend. Communism is just socialism with electricity, just because Stalin had access to AC electricity it doesn't mean that the rest of the world was also under an authoritarian government and used that technology to abuse their people.
