I will use the money from the Kickstarter to fund the game, so I can devote all my time into production. If funding goes over 100% I will devote just as much time to creating additional content and possibly bringing in more people to help with the completion and polish of the game. >>2963Saved.

You want money? Get a job.
Or make a game that is good enough, which is not very likely.
No.2979
>>2978Seconded. You get an actual job or do some actual work to make money, like become an engineer, a doctor, or start an engineering business, etc. I don't consider making games or any form of entertainment an "actual job." Except for maybe the big companies, but I don't exactly consider them as really contributing anything substantial to society. I don't consider games to have any "worth" in the traditional sense. Only worth in the interpersonal sense. Just my thoughts.

Don't impose your own values on other people's hard work just because it's entertainment (which by the way is what makes the most money of any business. It is what societies revolve around). I don't understand the mindless hate people have for Kickstarter or basic profiting here. Is it just jealously because you're all jobless NEETS with no future?

My friend interviewed Dingaling sometime last year for a podcast we were going to do that got defunked before it started. Thought I would share it seeing as how it's more on topic than most of the posts in this thread. He alludes to this game as well as gives a bit of insight into Lisa The First.
Why did you choose an Earthbound-like aesthetic?
Earthbound is my favorite game, and no matter what I try to make I always look back to Earthbound. I love how Earthbound on the outside can appear charming and childlike, but there are moments that really make you feel weird. I love that.
Have you made any other games?
I made one game at this video game development camp I went to as a kid. It was Cowboys vs Aliens, an action shooter with a cowboy that did the splits to dodge lasers.
Do you have any future plans in making games?
I do, It's going to be a commercial RPG about the post apocolaplse. Since I plan to charge for the game I'm going to ensure the best quality that I am personally capable of.
(Again, feel free to skip these over.)
What was the significance of:
The white flowers?
The white flowers were just supposed to be a positive symbol, sometimes they would even guide you.
The giant hand giving the finger?
no significance what so ever. I should of made the rope even longer!!!
The Melody (Royal/Sireen's Call) in the start and end of the game?
The red mansion?
the Red mansion was supposed to represent her last defense, her strongest "happy place." In the end it didn't work just like everything else.
The plastic bottle in the red mansion?
The crosses?
The recurring picture of the shadowy figure with the red eyes?
The rest of these things I want in the game for a reason, I just didn't come up with an actually reason. I wanted to know how others interpreted them. The things I came up with that were concrete, I always tried to explain. Even if it took some digging.
Did you expect Lisa to grow in popularity like it is right now?
I didn't really think about it at first. Although, I am very surprised and grateful people are taking an interest, this makes me really want to strive much harder for my next game. So thank you, and everyone who gave the game a chance, whether you liked it or hated it, thank you!
That's all for now, thanks for your time!

ah, if im allowed to theorize so early, did you notice that the thumbnail for the kickstarter video (pic related) seems to show the main character with what i'm assuming is lisa sleeping by a burned out campfire? the game makes it such a point there are no women in the world anymore, so it's definitely gotta be lisa.
there also seems to be an alternate costume (as an easter egg maybe) of brad armstrong, the protag, wearing marty-esque clothes.
thoughts?
No.3025
I was a little unsure of it at first, though I'm getting rather interested now that he's been showing off more of the project alongside the launch of the kickstarter.
The demo definitely gave me similar vibes to both Earthbound and the first Lisa, while also seeming more polished, at least so far.
>>3023I'm guessing this picture's the marty-esque costume you meant, right? While it could be a costume, I got the impression it actually was Marty, since the hair and beard are more like Marty's than Brad's. Kind of hard to know for sure we only have a single image, though.
No.3027
>>3025Actually I'm pretty sure that's the real Marty with a baby, probably Lisa as a baby or Lisa's baby…? There's also another little "avatar" of what I assume is Lisa but grown up a little.
What I meant was this. Really though, it's just the Hawaiian shirt that reminds me of Marty.

>>3080Yeah, I just noticed that as well (was my main reason for checking up here, actually). Pretty glad it reached that goal, since that content sounds really interesting. Next stretch goal seems to be a beach resort. Doesn't sound as interesting, but could still be neat due to the dystopian world setting, I'd imagine.

Pour one out for my homie. A lot of stuff relevant to the first game stills feels unanswered, but knowing this genre they may never be.
It feels a little pricey, but in its nature as a poorly protected RPGMaker game, it'll probably easy access by the end of the week.
No.3599
I finally bothered getting around to playing the first Lisa game yesterday. It wasn't anything humorously impressive really but I liked it, except for the spider-segments, which pretty much gave me high blood pressure.
I've more or less been watching the ads for this repeatedly since then, and it looks really, really awesome. The Mother series is pretty much my favorite set of games and I love absurd, dark, funny kinds of stuff so I should probably love the hell out of it.
Now if only I had digital shekels for it.
No.3601
The first Lisa game certainly isn't as impressive (though I found it pretty enjoyable for what it does too), but the new game recently released is really a lot more polished. I've been pretty addicted and playing it every chance I got until I completed it about a day ago. I really liked some of the connections to the first Lisa game as well.
This game still has the uncomfortable and unsettling atmosphere of the first Lisa game, but balanced it out more with lots of silly and Earthbound-like humor (that's not to say the story doesn't get pretty dark at points). I found exploring really fun as well, since there are a lot of events and secrets to see and find, then the gameplay's also been pretty enjoyable to me, since it offers a good challenge, and has some neat unique aspects, like the combos some characters use (it it still traditional turnbased in a lot of ways though, so people who don't like that sort of gameplay may not like it much).
It definitely felt well worth the $10 to me.
No.3622
>>3599Got it with the help of a generous drunk. Good thing too, every other game I've gotten doesn't work on my archaic junk computer.
>>3610Same. I really love the sense of humor to it, especially to the odd little secrets. It has a lot of punchlines you don't expect at all and that's awesome to see. Everything about it is great though, even the dread in the pit of my stomach it manages to evoke in some moments.
The only "problem" I can think of it just how much SJWs would love it were they to muster the patience to get through an actual game, and it's not like it's even the game's fault, it's just the sort of thing that could be read as a commentary on how shitty men or male spaces are if you give it to a deluded person.
Seriously though, it's fantastic. I wish more people would pick it up.
Somewhat off-topic but it has made me think of how many pieces of post-apocalyptic fiction have ridiculously good fathers in them.
No.3629
>>3622You say that but I've seen people saying the exact opposite, that they'd hate it because the female character is only valuable because of her sex and so on. No.3630
>>3629You are right.
I finished it earlier today.
That ending.
Games don't usually get to me much but that made me almost cry, then feel remorse, then extreme shock and horror within–what, 15 minutes maybe? Which is a sign of quality, that it managed to affect me as much as it did, that it found that many ways to destroy the noble and fuck everything with unmitigated human-ness and ugliness. But I've felt drained all day as a result.
I really hope The Last Girl DLC isn't as bad as I expect.
No.3632
>>3630Yeah man, that ending really hit me hard. Rando was a good guy who didn't do anything wrong, I felt really horrible.
That wasn't okay.
No.3635
Not only that, Rando was that student you took on back when you were still an instructor, the one who didn't have the money for it, who stuttered like the wind, who clearly didn't have any other opportunities in life. That was the only person you really, truly helped, who knew you as a kind person, who respected you even after you fucked up his face and, as far as he and his men knew, you'd done the same to Buddy. Not only was he truly honorable and kind, he was pretty much everything you yourself aspired to be, as well.
Not to mention the fact I had to kill Bo and that was also just fucking sad.
No.3636

>I had feels when I took him to what was left of his brother.
I hated doing that so goddamm much. I also hated how the game gave you this choice between essentially stealing that last memory of the one he was searching for and obviously loved deeply, and using it as bait, leading him to his doom but allowing him to remain ignorant to that personal tragedy, or letting him wallow in it indefinitely.

But the desolation was definitely by design; shit, almost the whole game took place amongst blood and corpses of those you've gone through, continue to go through even as you the player fucking hate the protagonist and don't want to. Another thing: the character motivation for Buddy isn't that great. Aside from the world as it is having bred that, Brad's expectations having helped, there isn't much there.
Outside of that? Glorious. And incredibly fucked. The ending sequences are some of the most powerful moments in any game I've played tbh, and ding continues to improve music-wise too.

You had a somewhat normal person at the start of the game and by the end he's
mutilating and enslaving a young girl just to leave some sort of mark on the world. And on tender flesh, hah.As for why Olathe was "perfect," I think it's just because it was the epitome of normal, white, working class America before the Flash. The most effective place to test it would be a place that is for the most part, fairly average. Real-life Olathe is a town that actually exists in Kansas, and it was boring and wholesome enough to be featured in In Cold Blood.

>>4780Pointless is pretty much the only Lisa fangame that actually keeps to the general humor and style of the originals, and it's rather goddamn hard to boot. Original tunes to it are very nice and remixes/"reimaginings" of Painful and Joyful songs are fantastic, and the journey of the main characters doesn't actually cross with Brad's journey despite going through some of the same areas.
