The following is a list of games I came across by looking around Nicovideo, which are as of yet untranslated. If nobody else will translate them, I will, one-by-one, translate them myself. Do note that since I am regularly busy with other things, that progress will be slow, and I would definitely like some help on how to modify these games to make an English version (I only know about DreaMaker so far, which does not help with translating menu options).
Boy Ichiro's Modesty (いちろ少年忌憚, Ichiro Shounen Kitan)
Paranormal Syndrome (怪異症候群, Kaii Shoukougun)
Sacrifice/Substitute Girl (身代わり少女, Migawari Shoujo)
Infection Nightmare (感染性ナイトメア, Kansensei Nightmare)
Beautiful Ballad (明美譚, Akemi Tan)
Neko Maguro (猫鮪) [Note: named after a well-known let's player on Nicovideo)
Oni Play (オニアソビ, Oni Asobi)
Utahoho Curse (哥欲祟, Utahono Tatari)
It Is Right There (そこにいる, Soko ni Iru)
Rumors of Mr. Kitchen Knife (包丁さんのうわさ, Houchou-san no Uwasa) [A text-reading game]
Memory Girl (記憶少女, Kioku Shoujo)
Forest of Animals (どうぶつ達の森, Doubutsu-tachi no Mori)
Save Meee (スクッテー, Sukuttee)
Red World (赤の世界, Aka no Sekai)
Doll
White Curse (シロノノロイ, Shiro no Noroi)
Seventh Night (オシチヤ, Oshichiya)
Lost House (マヨヒガ, Mayohiga)
Haunted House Exploration Team (おばけ屋敷探検隊, Obake Yashiki Tankentai)
Black Labo
Possibility (カノウセイ, Kanousei)
Devil Plug-in
Nobita's Biohazard (のび太のBiohazard, Nobita no Biohazard)

My impression on the games I have played so far:
Boy Ichiro's Modesty: I have nothing special to say about this one, so I am a bit mystified about why it gained such popularity on Nicovideo. Well, concerning the story anyways, since a lot of it seems quite cliche. But I would be lying if I said that I was never scared while playing the game, so I guess it has a few good points.
Paranormal Syndrome: I only played through the first 2 chapters so far, but I already quite like this game. It is a Clock Tower-like game, and I think that something that makes this interesting is how it has multiple chapters. Generally I didn't really feel all that scared much, and if there is one reason why, it's because it's generally almost too easy to run away from the enemies chasing you. Especially the bear in the first chapter.
No.2560
One thing I do like about Paranormal Syndrome is how you can learn much about Japanese urban legends and other things like that. The first chapter concerns "Hitori Kakurenbo" (or "One-man Hide-and-seek") and the second one concerns "Kunekune."

Despite not being all that impressed by Boy Ichiro's Modesty, I have translated over half of the dialogue of the game so far. Here is my progress so far:
http://pastebin.com/QZBZ3tEB No.2562
In summary: I am pretty confident in my ability to translate them quickly, but for modifying the games to implement these translations, any help could be appreciated.

I like your idea, OP. I would help if those were on RM2K3, but since my internet is a cunt I don't know if I would be even able to download them, or how much of those are for RM2K3 (if there's any).
Anyway, I'm monitoring this thread.

I believe that Boy Ichiro's Modesty and Paranormal Syndrome are both RPG Maker 2000.
No.2566
Good luck OP, I'm not sure how difficult it'll be to work the translations into the game but I'll be watching this thread and will try to help myself if no one better experienced comes along.
No.2567
The main difficulty with Boy Ichiro's Modesty is the opening scene where he does the "table turning" because I would have to turn the kana into roman letters, and re-write the coin path to spell out the words in English.
Other than that, only the menu options would be what require direct modification in RPG Maker 2000. The rest can easily be done in DreaMaker.
As for Paranormal Syndrome, other than the dialogue, there really isn't anything outside the menus that require translating, so this one should be an easy one.
No.2568
I already like Paranormal Syndrome so much and it seems really popular that I'm wondering if I should start to try translating this one instead, and save Boy Ichiro's Modesty for second. Well, I'll get both done eventually.
No.2569
I wish I could help but this is not an area I am familiar with. I wish you the best of luck though OP, Paranormal Syndrome looks really interesting.

家庭科室の熱子さん バーナーで焼かれて美味しそう
Atsuko from Home Ec is cooking something delicious on the burner.
Not sure what happened here, but you translated that she was burnt something, but the Japanese says she was cooking something, not burning something.
八十上学園七不思議 触らぬ神に祟り無し
七不思議がやってくる あなたを殺しにやってくる
The Seven Wonders of Yasokami Academy; best to live and let live.
For if you try the Seven Wonders, they will take your life.
You translated this as "no curse to an untouched god", however, this is actually a Japanese phrase meaning "Let sleeping dogs lie" or "If it isn't broken, don't fix it". Meaning that it's best to let such things be and not get involved in the Seven Wonders.
Also, I noticed that you translated 開けない as a choice as "It doesn't open." I can actually understand how it may be misread this way, but as it's a choice, it's best to translate it as "Leave it alone" or "Don't open it" etc, as you're making a choice to not open the door, not that the door 'doesn't open'.
No.2622
>>2613I interpreted this as not saying that Netsuko/Atsuko was cooking/burning something, but rather, as being cooked/burnt. As in, some girl named Netsuko/Atsuko was put in the burner and cooked.
Having played through the entire game and read all the explanations about the "Seven Wonders/Mysteries," the reason why I interpreted it like that is because when Kiyomaru explained it, it is as following:
"昔…この学校で
ひどいイジメがあったんだ。"
In the past… at this school,
There was a terrible bullying that went on.
イジメを受けていたのは、背の低い
性格の控えめな女の子だった。"
The one who was bullied, was a short, shy girl.
放課後、イジメっ子達に家庭科室へ
呼び出された彼女は…"
One day after school, the bullies
called her to the home economics room…
"バーナーで火あぶりにされた。"
Where they burnt her to death in the burner.
"それからというもの
家庭科室には火傷でただれた彼女が…"
It was said that from then on,
the girl in the home economics room, festered with burn wounds…
"バーナーを握り締め
襲いかかってくるそうだよ。"
would grasp tightly onto the burner
and come attacking.
"これが七不思議の一つ
『熱子さん』の話さ。"
This is the story of Netusko/Atsuko,
one of the Seven Mysteries/Wonders

I've seen a playthrough of Devil Plug-in. seemed rather short.
a few other untranslated games I've seen are Moonlight Labyrinth and Kisei Joker, which seem to be somewhat popular despite the fact that official distributions ceased in 2008 for some reason (and that KJ is more-or-less Resident Evil in RM2K)
No.2866
Comment on progress so far… not very far since I last posted here. I've been busy doing other translation so far… and stuff. I also made a mistake in the title of 明美譚… which really is probably more appropriately called "Akemi Tan" rather than Beautiful Ballad, since it appears to be more of a name than what it literally says.
Most of the remaining portions to be translated for Boy Ichiro's Modesty come from the long explanations of what the "Seven Mysteries" are, but even after I translate all the dialogue, I wouldn't know a lot about translating the menu options etc.

>>3053It is because RPG_Maker_Trans didn't handle the item names and descriptions very well, forcing me to substitute numbers for them to figure out what they were, and translate them later. I suppose that this worked in all cases except for where the item you get can differ depending on chance… and the Blood-stained memo was probably one of them.
One of the possible descriptions for the memo are:
The numbers "6730" are written faintly on it.
I suppose that this description can differ depending on some random number, so I'll guess I'll have to play through this several times in order to get all the possibilities. But, I wasn't aware of this before you alerted me to it (I thought that there was only one possible key to it), so thanks for telling me that.
No.3055
I have fixed the issue concerning item description 117 (i. e. I have updated the dropbox and mediafire files, still at the same link though), but there are still some item descriptions left as numbers, namely 3, 115, 116, and 118.
I tried getting the blood-stained memo again to see if I would get a different description than the ones that read 3824 or 6730… but it seems like whatever random number it generates, generates it much before I pick it up. It might be difficult to try to see all the possibilities by just doing this. Just for now, please alert me if any item gets a description of 3, 115, 116, or 118 because they are still left as numbers.
No.3058
Alright, I went into RPG Maker itself to look, and it turns out that this is one aspect where a random number of 0, 1, or 2 tripped me up. Since I used RPG Maker this time, perhaps I might even work without turning the locale ot Japanese.

Hello! I was sent here to ask questions I have about games and such… *ahem* So, I am attempting to play Paranormal Syndrome (among a few other games). I have downloaded the Japanese RPG Maker 2000 RTP, but I can't install it. It will not allow me to complete install for it. I have changed my locale to Japanese. I've started playing Parasitic Joker (寄生ジョーカー, Kisei Joker) and I must say, I do quite like it, although it is quite frustrating with all these events you have to get to and the need to carefully plan your movements, as well as boss battles that actually do require some skill in order to beat. I would like to translate this and Moonlight Labyrinth eventually, but some later, though, since these would definitely take quite a while.
The other thing I'd also look into is Charon's series of games (Mikoto Nikki, etc.). These are quite short games and wouldn't be much of a problem to translate them, and I did like the concept of Mikoto Nikki. However, I would also like to put these off for later as well.
As of right now, I would like to look into Possibility (カノウセイ, Kanousei) as well as the Akemi Tan that someone has kept on asking me about.

>>3194It seems one file is missing. Can't tell which one, though.
Try re-downloading it, changing your locale to japanese and only then un-raring it.
By the way, I'm not the person who is translating this so if this doesn't work just wait for his/her answer. No.3196
>>3194I searched around and it actually seems to be an issue with the RTP, since you are missing some files from the RTP. You should try re-downloading the Japanese RPG Maker 2000 RTP, unzipping, and installing it again (everything after setting your locale to Japanese).
No.3197
>>3194The best way to deal with these things is first to reinstall the rtp.
But if you're feeling adventurous, the file that's missing in all these cases is the set in between ”ファイル” And ”は開けません”
Which translates in the end to: File ______ can not be opened.
ファイル____は開けません

Ah hello. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but, it seems that Akemi-tan's endgame has a lot of content cut off. It doesn't display the full ending, and cuts to credits right after Shimoko and Ebiko find "that character" beaten dead in front of the shrine. I'm not sure if it's just my game or if there was a problem with the coding, sorry to bother.

What is Oni Asobi about
No.3204
>>3203Do you know of "Oni-hime-sama?"
Yeah, I know of it. It's an old legend told about in this town, right?
Yep yep. Once upon a time, when this place was still a village, to a certain farmer family, was born a girl with horns on her head. Because of those horns, that girl couldn't get along with anyone, and was always all alone. And then, on a certain year…… A bad illness assailed the people of the village, and caused a great number of people to suffer. The villagers blamed it on the girl, and ended up killing that girl as a mob. After that, incidents of children suddenly disappearing, a kind of "spiriting away," started to happen quite frequently. Surely, it was because the spirit of the lonely girl who was killed, abducts them out of a desire for friends. This kind of rumor started going around, starting from no one in particular……
There's a small shrine quite close to the school, right? That, you see…… actually seems to have been built in order to calm the spirit of that girl. But that girl, Oni-hime-sama's spirit has still
not gone to peace. Even now, from time to time, she attempts to take away people who go there……
↑Taken from the opening.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask in, but I'll try.
I'm having trouble finding the casket moving event in Forest of Drizzling Rain, I really can't even find when I'm supposed to do it or how to trigger it, I just know it "has something to do with the room with tons of books at the end" I keep getting any end except the ones that involve performing the event.

Man, I don't know what's up with your translation Forest of Animals, but it's definitely just the file names- I managed to make it past the title screen with just AppLocale after creating a copy of タイトル2.jpg and renaming it タイトル2.jpg, in both Titles folders (i.e.- ../Graphics/Titles/ and ../Data/Graphics/Titles/).
After that, it won't crash when calling up the 'scary dream' image, but it will crash whenever the Squirrel Sage tries to show you either diagram file, or when the game tries to call up the Game Over screens.
So, uh, I'm not sure what the rhyme or reason behind the difficulties is anymore.
No.3308
>>3302It seems to work for many other people, so I think that it may have something to do with the way you downloaded/un-rared the file. Are you sure you have it in Japanese locale before you even downloaded and un-rared the games…?

Tosiaki-san, I have a question about passing through the cat. I looked up your video and you can carry one mouse to lure the cat.
I do the same as you but I can't take the mouse
I also looked up your wiki, and read the translation. But in translated version, The mouse only say that he love danger, not mentioning anything about cat.
Need help and confirmation
No.3318
>>3315You have to first approach the cat, within about 4-5 spaces away, before you can talk to the mouse to get the cat out of the way.

>>3308I'm certain that the extracting was done under the right locale.
I also never said the game didn't work when the Locale's set to Japan, I'm just saying I got the game to work for further screens with only AppLocale by simply switching a few of the files' names which made me suspect that they're the source of any troubles on that front.
It's really the only game that has any problems like these, so it's no big deal. I just thought it was interesting to note that switching the 2 for a 2 had any effect.
No.3341
>>3338Well, they're different characters, so of course it'd get things mixed up. Though I wonder how it ended up being 2 in the first place. It was "2," not 2 in the original .rar. Maybe one downloaded from the dropbox source instead? That one hasn't been updated for some time. Though even then, it should have been a "2" instead of a "2", so that doesn't exactly explain anything either.

i don't understand anyone who would do this for free. its simply such a timesink, that, unless you really, really like the thing you're translating and want more people to see it, comes with little to no reward.
like shit, even the big cheese who do it for free give donation links and shit like that.

>>6200Because it's their hobby? I myself like to translate a game and play it after that, because it feels really great when you make a thorough localization to your native language, and are able to experience it all again, but this time with 100% intuitively understanding everything in it. tl;dr I do this solely for my own comfort, nothing more.
But yeah, I also don't understand how can people translate games they don't feel anything to, or didn't even play them before.

Uboa seems like has a lot of people that are translating games, and also a lot of rpgmaker fans, then why the board has a section for scanlations, but doesn't have a section for games translations? Wouldn't it be convenient both for rpgmaker players to look for updates there, and for translators to upload and promote their projects instead of dropping them into threads, where they most likely will stay forgotten for years?
(I'm a newfag, so maybe such a section/board exists, and I'm just isn't aware of it).

Segawa, the developer of END ROLL, has released a new game titled "Tower of Hanoi." It can be downloaded here:
https://www.freem.ne.jp/win/game/24302I tried to capture it with the wayback machine to have a mirror (repackaged with winrar to reduce file size):
https://web.archive.org/web/20211201155402/https://litter.catbox.moe/8z0bll.rarThe dev experienced a full-on autistic meltdown and requested that this and her future games not be translated because, wait for it, she is butthurt because (according to her) English speaking fans use her game characters as profile pics and repost the art that she, as an artist, posted on the internet. I mean, imagine people liking your works, isn't that preposterous.
>Vgperson's commentary: "Segawa has requested that English translations of her games (TOWER of HANOI and onward) no longer be made. Though she understands it's ultimately a small minority, the frequent reposting of her art and the like by English users upsets her whenever she sees it, impeding her ability to create and forcing the difficult decision to forbid translations."Is anyone planning to translate this game?
