That's weird. I remember having a couple of pictures where mado wasn't crying/killing/depressive/etc; but it seems that's the only one I found where she's not like that.

The artist is Aosora. He's pretty good and you can see he really likes Yume Nikki, but those are not the only impressive works he's got there.

I do agree! They're a talented artist, and there's clearly nothing wrong with interpreting her character that way. I just think it's shame that she gets reduced to a killer with the Knife effect so often. Despite how dark the game appears at times, her dreams can be quite beautiful too.
