Seems to me like mixed-race, considering some of the furniture she has.

I think she might be Japanese-Brazilian. Brazil pretty much has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan and it would explain the south-American influences throughout the game.
No.1821
Why would she not be Japanese. Her dreams are about things she saw and things she thinks about, not about her ancestry or race. I doubt genes or DNA would make you dream about your people.
I assume she's a ordinary japanese girl since the game is japanese and she has a japanese(ish) name.

I'm under a sort of assumption that she isn't japanese, and instead she is actually american. But she is however in japan.
based on her hair color, I want to say her origins could be Germanic?
No.1831
>>1829she could be from literally from any non-asian/middle eastern region - brunettes are the most common anywhere but there. including europe, canada, america, western part of russia… and maybe australia too, if you're basing that theory on hair color.
No.1832
You know, she probably has brown hair because Kikiyama decided it looks better than black or any other colour.
No.1833
>>1832That's what I'm thinking too, I mean Monoko and Monoe are the only obviously human NPCs with dark hair, and they're monochrome.
Has anyone done a sprite edit for Mado where she has black hair?
No.1834
Guys… Japanese people can have brown hair too. C'mon.
No.1835
Basing a character's origin just by the hair colour is stupid… What if mado dyed her hair?
Just to add another example of those already found on this thread.
