What on earth would happen if he did update and we didn't like it? What if he added new effects, characters, etc and we hated everything about them? God help him, what if he changed the slightest thing in the game?

However, if he merely fixed what already exists (which I doubt he will), such as the chair glitch and what have you, I don't think there would be much fuss apart from the people who rely on the chair glitch who miss the point of the game entirely.
