Hello, Uboachan.
Guess what I have received today.

 No.1283

And what is that?

 No.1287

How rare is this game?
You need to make an iso or something so people can play it.

 No.1288

I can't find much on this game so post up some gameplay please
>>1287
and/or this

 No.1289

The game's full name is "Forget me Not: Palette" and was mentioned earlier in the following thread:

>>1079

 No.1292

When I'll finish my exams I'll surely do some gameplays for you. You have to wait something like 2 weeks…I hope that this won't annoy you all.
And also, if you can explain me how to extract the iso out of the cd I'll try ヽ(*・ω・)ノ
(and excuse me for the late reply, btw)

Whoa man, that's awesome! I've been meaning to look more into this game since that one thread.

Get CloneCD. It's the best. It always works.

 No.1439

Any updates, OP?

I'm pretty interested in this game.

RPG maker version. 3rd link from the top seems to be a full game download:

Wanted to know the whole story of a game, but didn't find anything. Did somebody play it? Spoil the story, please.

 No.1542

thanks, wikipedia, but I meant plot of the game

Well, if you're looking for a basic synopsis wikipedia (oh, the irony) actually has that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palette_%28freeware_game%29

That wikipedia link mentions a decent bit on the gameplay as well.

There's also this page for the PS1 game, which has some details, though it's in japanese:

http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/digifami/products/fmn/index.html

It's kinda readable with Google translate and a bit of interpretation as well, though:

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/digifami/products/fmn/index.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.enterbrain.co.jp/digifami/products/fmn/index.html%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DiMh%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26prmd%3Dimvns&sa=X&ei=rHSWUJWMBeng0gHayIHAAQ&ved=0CCQQ7gEwAA

But well, I don't know too much since It seems like a game that's tough to progress in without knowing Japanese. From the gameplay videos I saw, it seems like the game often switches between the girl (exploring what I think is her maze of memories) and the psychiatrist (always in his office, either typing something or answering the phone) so I get the feeling the girl's portions are mostly gameplay, while the psychiatrist's portions are mostly story. If you want links to those videos, or a download of the freeware, PC-98 version, check >>1096

But isn't it in moonrunes?

Not the Wikipedia page. The Enterbrain page is, though it's reasonably possible to interpret with google translate, as you can see with the third link.

Yep, that's me. I'm trying to translate the PS1 version too now, since it's quite an improvement over the original.

Alas, I lack the hacking expertise to track down the text routine stuff I want to change (though once I find it I think I'll know what to do), so we'll see how that goes.

>>1950
Ooh, can't say I was expecting that. Pretty nice to see this game finally got a translation!

>>1952

Huh, wasn't aware you browsed Uboachan at all.

Good luck hacking the PS1 version; dunno how much others care about the game, but I know I'd definitely like to see how the PS1 version compares to the original.

Dunno much about hacking myself, but if you have trouble, you might be able to try and ask for some advice at romhacking.net; might even be able to get some hacker to come in and help on the project, though the chances of that would depend entirely on interest, of course.

I'd also like to thank you for translating all these games, both horror and not. As a person who's been wishing to experience many of these Japanese horror and mystery games for many years, it's really nice to see some of them receive an English release.

Uh I feel stupid asking this. But how do you get the door to the left of D.B's room open?

I found the problem, this game can't be played in Windows 7 64 bit.

 No.1988

>>1987

I have Windows 7 64 bit and was able to get it to run without any issues at all, so I can say that's not the problem. Unfortunately, I don't really know what your problem IS, either, and I don't know Japanese in order to read that error message.

I'm just guessing at random here, but did you make sure to try running it in administrator mode? I know that can sometimes cause problems with some applications, and I have everything automatically set to run that way on my computer.

 No.1989

>>1988
I did, i tried that, running in compatibility with windows 95, 98, XP, etc. Also tried applocale, but no matter what i did it would give me that error message.

The strange thing is that in another computer i have that is Windows 7 32bit, it works, but i have to use compatibility with windows 95, and not use applocale.

Sidenote: Using compatibility with XP turns anything red into green. And using applocale makes the red invisible, so you cant see the blocks you can enter, or the red in the girl's dress(before i realized that, i had to check every tile for a door, and confused me alot) And some other compatibility modes have the same invisibility problem.

 No.1990

>>1989

Well, oddly enough, I just tried starting up the game, and got the very same error; Seeing as it worked on my very first try after downloading the game, this was kinda odd… so I played around a bit, and found the solution; Luckily, it's nothing too complicated; You just gotta change the DEP settings for the game's .exe:

So to do that on Windows 7, you'd want to go to Start>Control Panel>System and Security>System>Advanced System Settings, then a window will open up; in here, click the "Settings" button located within the "Performance" box, then in the next window, click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab, then click "add", then find the game's .exe and add it to the list, and it should open without problems now!

Do note though that even with the game running, it may not emulate perfectly if you simply play it without the right type of emulation; From the bit I played, it seemed to display correctly so long as I didn't minimize the game, though well… I only played a bit, so I can't be sure. vgperson's blog post on Palette offers some possibilities if you did want to try emulating it, though.

Anyway, hope that ends up fixing your problem.

It worked! thanks. Also it seems most of the glitches i got in the other computer by using compatibility mode are gone here.

It's always good to learn something new huh?

Sorry for the necrobump, but I'm posting from Kyoto where I just picked up a copy of the game in a book-off store (they were trying to hide it I swear.)
I'm on my phone right now so it's cumbersome to search in multiple tabs, so I'm up for uploading a PSX rip of the game if it hasn't been done yet.

Oh yeah, I found it at a book-off store.
I also realized that my computer doesn't have a CD drive >_>
So I'll have to improvise.

Got it, Manno. Don't worry, take it easy, if you can't that's okay.
Kinda off-topic, but could you talk about how your trip in furui heiankyou was like? Also pics and whatnot, I'm honestly interested. I think the random thoughts thread in /ot/ would be a better place for it though.
