I lurk for pretty much the same reason. It just seems like a lot friendlier of a place than most, without being too uptight like a forum might be. There are also less people, which is nice. Makes it hard to waste too much time here - or at least, harder than it is for a more active place like 4chan. After a while, you also get to know some of the posters a little bit, so participating yourself feels a lot less intimidating.

I began lurking after stumbling upon the board after going on ubuu a couple times a few years ago and seeing that it was one of the more interesting boards due to the variety of posts, and discovering that I could actually relate to the posters a fair amount and there seemed to be less judgmental stuff to worry about.

I am tolerated.

Because this is the only NEET-related site that isn't populated by people wallowing in their failure and self-pity like /r9k/ or wizardchan. But I almost entirely lurk because people here can kinda be defensive dicks for no reason sometimes.
