No.908
I'll start by posting some of my favourite psychedelic rock bands. Japanese psychedelic rock has a very unique sound. The best way to describe it is haunting and beautiful.

Shugo Tokumaru
I think in an interview he claims he actually inspires his music from his dreams, mostly in a light-hearted way though. They have a child-like quality to them. Like you're having a fun adventure in a nice forest. He also said he tries to incorporate as many instruments as possible into his songs to illustrate the different aspects of the dreams that inspire his songs.
Some of my favorites:

Asian kungfu Generation is by far my favorite band of all time. They have been since i first heard them when i was 11. There is something about their sound that gives me this unbelieveable mixture of meloncholy, longing, and hope. Goto also has very beautiful lyrics and the music fits together like a puzzle.
Akiakane is my favorite singer.
Jinn is another band i adore. The lead singer has such a beautiful whiny voice almost like traditional japanese singing.
Plastic tree is quite wonderful too.

First jap that comes to mind is Hideaki Ishi, aka DJ Krush:

>>915I enjoy AKFG too, but I haven't listened to the recent stuff they've put out after "Surf Bungaku Kamakura" (except for "Sorede wa Mata Ashita"). But getting back on track, I'm a huge fan of Toshi (singer from X Japan). His solo stuff is fairly eclectic after he parted ways with his band. "Grace" & "Canary" have some jazz with R&B influences in some of the songs (this is more apparent "Canary"), "made in HEAVEN" feels like soft rock while "Mission" is a little more heavier with fewer power ballads & "Aoi Hoshi" is harder to describe, but I think it's somewhat ambient (I don't know. I could be wrong).

Listen to it every so often. Settles the perfect mood for relaxing or daydreaming. Certainly one of my favorite albums. I wonder what happened to the group. That's all i can find of them along with a small EP. Just searched the band's name and you'll find it.
