I've been working on it and I'd like your opinions on it.
Protagonist's name is Me (Eye).
The objective, like Lcd Dem is picking orbs. The effects is for helping it.
This game has some dialogue, but it is very rare seeing it happen.

There's a similar room in hallucigenia with yellow and pink unidentified stuff. That room has gray flooring and it blends nicely. Maybe you should just change the floor background to a less saturated color like a grayish green or really dark purple. In another note, try adding shadow to the objects, that helps blending as well

On another note, please, drop the hell maze copy. It was the only area in YN i avoided like the plague and i cringe every time i see a new iteration. These areas do nothing for the game except ruin the mood for me.

Find and interact w/ blue sign
On the "tiles world" go right-down, then left, use distort effect, then interact with the visible red thing.
On the pink/black place, go right/down and here on the picture ("Charlotte?" statue to interact.)
Then go leftways and interact with the monsters's foot.
Some monsters and places react when you are "inverted".
And… you can get an orb on this place (pink and black world), by interacting with an orange w/ cyan sprout and going left…

I must say, the first few worlds of your game don't really appeal, but I did sit down to read your thread and many people seem to like it. On that knowledge, I went looking further in, and I was pretty pleased with some deeper sections of your game!

In the past I tried to simulate yume 2kki's but it was a lot more complex and I ended up scrapping it. Yours looks like it is easy to program and customize, so may I use it? I REALLY don't think this game could be called finished just yet. Let me just drop some things here.
-BUG: You can open the main menu when the countdown to enter the "sound world."
-NITPICK: Why just change SOME of the BGs and not ALL of them? Most of them, such as Distort1/2, aka and awa look HORRID compared to the lovely painted-looking BGs.
-BUG: The sound test Me changes to FC even when normal BGMs are being played.
-NITPICK: The sound test doesn't play all the game's BGMs.
-NITPICK: ED2 sounded better at 80%. Like, MUCH better.
-BUG: ED1 and Creditsed don't play at their right places/times in the true ending.
-BUG: The second ending's sequence doesn't play properly at ALL. I suggest adding some "Wait" commands in there.
-BUG: If you activate that event where, when you wake up you get a trippy animation of some NPC, after it finished and you wake up, you wake up AGAIN for some reason.
-BUG: You can't enter the school in V10.
-NITPICK: The "room" BGs are off-center and look horrible in game. You should try and line the "room" BGs up with the game's tiles so they don't look so off.
-NITPICK: Also, in Me's room in the sound world, you should get rid of that huge white splodge. It looks horrible and out of place.
-BUG: Sometimes when you pick up an orb, if you view the orb in the "dream" it is a different color.
-NITPICK: Also, the orbs look weird. Maybe just change them to some colored balls of light like LcdDem's?
-BUG/NITPICK: Some of the BGMs are WAY too quiet and can't be heard at all. I suggest making them louder. The BGMs of the eye and hand worlds via the nexus are good examples of this.
QUESTION: Also, does the BGM of the tree world with the blue BG have any sound at all? I hear absolutely nothing from that BGM.
NITPICK: Can't the orbs be viewed by the bed in the real world too?
NITPICK: Parts of the game that have colored/dark tints carry into other parts that shouldn't have it and it looks really weird.
This is a good game, but the stuff I mentioned above really spoils it.

Its your/others' fault for not preserving copies while you had the chance.
Also, your simile is poor. It's still not controversial, because it's not the same thing, possible, or something companies actually do. Nor is it relative to what the author is doing. 'Purging'? You make it sound like he's trying to retroactively destroy past copies of his work.
What he's doing is simply not providing more copies, much like any company does with their movies. They stop running the movie in theaters, eventually they stop making DVDs. They don't go hunting down copies to destroy them or forbidding people to watch them – the 'movie' is already in circulation and they leave it at that.
They just replace it with what they choose is better, if they add onto it.
Even then, this isn't a finished work or a director's cut and he's not purging anything. I can't speak for the author, but I believe he has no obligation to archive his past versions for anyone but himself. If you want that so badly, do it yourself.
It's good to keep your old work for posterity and improvement, not to satiate fans who don't like that he's replacing old work with new work.

On the surreal landscape go right until the very end and talk to Heya, then you interact with a glitch. Then there will be a red moon that you will look at to recieve the orb.

Go to Sponge world->Gray Box-> Sunset Path-> Colored Tree area. Look for a mini Me and walk through the Teru Maze. Afterwards, in Bloodstone Field, look for a leaf.
3-
Have Distort Effect, then go to Technoilogic (Color-changing door) and go to a sign near a bench. Interact with the sign. In Mono Tiles, go left onto the stars and use Distort effect. They will change onto a portal. Go through it.
4-
Go to Kaleidoscope-(Light pole)> Water City-> Building-> Rotating Circles-> Mountain-(Hole, jump down)>Under the mountain-> Tentaground-(Between two vine tentacles)> Pasture and Trees- (Move the sphere by usage of Magnet, then use Eraser on the wound)> Faces-> Corridor to that street-> Teru Building/Hospital-> Cracked Dolls Area -(Look for a doll at the south with a cracked head and darkened neck)> Orb location.

Go to the Leaking Grey City (Sponge World->Leak). Then search for a sign with the number 172 at the rightmost part of the city.

If you're planning to update the remake any more, then you should really fix up the graphics. Me's sprite and several other ones do not look good next to many other sprites in the game due to inconsistent resolutions – for example, Me's sprite vs. the doors. You should really go over the game and make the resolution consistent, like either downscaling things like Me's sprite or upscaling things like the door graphics. As it is, the inconsistent graphics clash awfully and make the more upscaled sprites look ugly and pixelated, especially compared to graphics like the doors.
