Is there any newer YNFGs you like? If not, what's your favorite YNFG? I cannot think of a fangame that I enjoy that's newer than like 5 years old.

Yume Tsushin is one of the coolest fangames I've ever played, possibly a contender for my favourite fangame. The art's just really cool and creative and some of the things it does are really technically impressive as far as RPGmaker games go.

Not exactly brand new, but I've been playing a bit of Elemental Dreams as of late. I've known about it for a while but it wasn't until recent that I got around to actually going into it in-depth, and I've been enjoying my time. It's not what I'd call anything innovative but I appreciate the fact that it looks pleasant, has some nice tunes (Ice World & Bubble Village have been today's earworms), and has a cute hero that was the reason I jumped in to check it out in the first place. I also commend the fact that it implements the concept of unlockable Nexus worlds more flexibly than If did, in that you simply seek out elemental switches that match their transparent equivalents in the Nexus to activate them, instead of needing to grab most of the effects just to unlock the other half of the game.

I do think there's some stuff holding it back from being truly great, though. There's a huge lack of interesting characters to bump into, and I'm not exactly a fan of most of the worlds being huge looping expanses with sparse decoration a la Yume Nikki's Eyeball & Candle Worlds. Not helping matters is that the effects aren't that amazing either, and they're way harder to come by from my experience (I've only got 3 out of 8 from my two hours of playing).

I know some good stuff still comes out sometimes but I don't really have the time to check most these days because life and an overall lack of interest as time went on
Yume Tagai was one of the last ones I played while I was still keeping up with fangames, probably has my favorite protagonist duo and the worlds/effects/events are all pretty interesting on top of the art being really pleasant to look at
