So I tried both reposting and shortening the old help thread, but the new Uboachan keeps eating it because it's too long. For now, I'll post a link to the full instructions that were thankfully saved on the wiki before the move: http://yume2kki.wikia.com/wiki/Installation_Instructions
This thread can be a general installation help thread for questions that the wiki page might not have answered.
Oh, and for people who have XP and can't find their CD, you can download an XP .iso and an .iso image burner (google these, it's not that hard to find one) and then burn the .iso to a disk with the other program. An .ISO file works as a sort of "ghost" copy of the installation disk, and it can be pretty helpful if you don't know where your disk is or if your computer didn't come with one (a lot of stores have it pre-installed).
Try re-installing the RTP for RPG maker and make sure it's the Japanese one, other than that I've got nothing. Vista can usually run 2kki without the pApplocale if you have your computer locale set to Japanese, which should still be in the Regional and Language options. But hey, maybe that's just me.
thanks, that helped but then I suddenly got another error
I did everything you told me and ran it using applocale (and later no applocale, and some other attemps) but it goes into fullscreen-black mode, then it turns small again and there's the error of my picture, I didn't even get to see anything from the game as of yet
if it has to do with the RPG maker not being japanease, I've searched everywhere and could only find the one that's recommended in the yume 2kki wiki
Update on >>32
I've found that all of my "missing file" errors have resulted from these files being named incorrectly. Files that were supposed to be titled with japanese text read things like "ò¦æa" instead. I believe this has something to do with unicode conversion, though I don't exactly know how to convert the ò¦æa-text back into japanese.
If anybody has any info on this, let me know.
Ran 7zip with the japanese locale, extracted the files again.
All was well/fixed. Hooray! Anybody else with this issue: do this.
I am >>29
Since I couldn't find a solution, I uninstalled everything and redid all I could
I put my locale as japanease font, turned off user security or whatever (the thing that promps administration yes or no) I re-installed applocale + got that other thing that allows you to use the japanease locale with just a simple right click.
I first tried getting the japanease RPG maker 2003, but whenever I tried to run it using applocale or no applocale, it always gave me an error (it just said ERROR RUNNING, nothing more)
and then I went for the english RPG maker 2000 (the one that's on the yume 2kki wiki) and it did everything fine when I used the japanease locale.
Now, I'm still stuck at the same problem, the thing will run, become fullscreen mode, all black, end fullscreen mode and show me this error.
I'm really loosing my hopes here <- and I'm starting to think I'm better off waiting for the game to be finished oficially and someone make it into a single dowload+exe like they did with yume nikki.
If anyone can help me further I'd apreciate it, maybe I just suck with files? >_<
Anyway, the picture is my error, I think its the same as the other picture but it might not be
allow me to correct my mistake, I tried to install the Japanease RPGmaker 2000, not 2003 XD
Put it in the main folder.
still not working DX but thanks for trying
I guess I'll just have to wait until its finished and used in a definite .exe like YN XD
I'll give you a hint - it's a path to the game executable.
The paintings in the Art Gallery don't teleport me anywhere.
I'm unable to find the penguin game anywhere.
Not all of the paintings do something when you interact with them, and not all of those that you can interact with teleport you somewhere. Or is that not the problem here?>>67
Interact with the video game console in Urotsuki's Dream Room. You can access that area by going through the darker of the two gray doors in the Nexus.
Check the furthest room in the hallway on the southern wall in Urotsuki's Dream Apartments.
That file has recently been deleted. That wasn't the first time a password-protected file had been uploaded, and then, deleted later.
Hmm… I get the feeling that the mention in the wiki of the latest version being 0.95g is a typo. According to the Japanese wiki, 0.95e is the last update released to the public. Here's a link to the wiki I'm talking about: http://www31.atwiki.jp/sindame/
The other day, I got .95d and put my .92 save file in there. When I went to play with the same save the second time, I couldn't press anything. When I got it to windowed mode, it started a new game. What do? (No pic, by the way)
Huh, that's weird. I've heard of people having issues with getting all the effects again but never that. Does it give you any sort of error? You could try screencapping that if it does.
I guess I can't really say anything else, other than try redownloading .95d (actually it should probably be .95e, that's the newest version) and double checking your .92 save file.
Nevermind. I went to play today, and it worked. I'm wondering what happened?
Is there a translation of the instructions? Or of the key commands? The wiki is unnervingly unhelpful on this.
I've just put the basic key commands on the front page of the wiki under Gameplay Controls.
i was playing the game then suddenly poof: my footstep sounds were suddenly gone. I woke up, closed the game and restarted again, but i can't seem to figure out why they would disappear like that, help?
You have to go into the theatre in Marihuana Goddess World. You know? You enter through the purple cat-like building and go into the theatre were you found one of the twins.
Or just pass below the cone barrage, and enter the hole. there's space in that place.
I just got a new laptop with window 7. The wiki says to use Vistalizator, but I can't get it to work, it comes up with the message "error loading system configuration."
>>254>using 2003 as the RTP
There's your problem. 2kki's a 2000 game.
The reason I changed RTPs was because of this error. I don't quite understand what the Japanese is saying, other than something along the lines of "is missing" or "won't open".
So, either way, it looks like I'm fucked.
The "Marginal Effect" IS implemented! I've taken him out of Strangler Eyes, right now!
*same person as before* Also I'm using version 95…
Okay, so…I made it from the Docks into the submarine, and I'm chilling in the sub waiting to get to the ocean floor. Now, the wiki says, "When the scrolling sea background slows down and the radar noise changes, you can get out of the submarine, and it will take you to the Ocean Floor."
So…how long are you supposed to wait? Because I've been waiting about 20 minutes and it has not slowed down or changed sounds. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I had this problem once, too.
Have you tried moving to the lower level of the sub and waiting? Are you leaving the game selected and not using a different window? Finally, have you tried making the sub clear and waiting? One of these should help your journey to the bottom of the sea.
I hate to sound like noob but the Loda for 2kki hasn't been working correctly for me? Or I TOTALLY missed something somewhere. Generally, when I download something from Loda theres a huge button on the bottom after clicking on a file and it says DOWNLOAD. But…it's gone on all the files for 2kki's Loda for me. I checked other fangames and it was there. What am I missing?
Habing the same problem, and I've tried everything you just said, and waited for about fifteen-twenty minutes.
What is Buyobi doing wrong? :C
Yup, yup, and yup. I tried going in and out of the submarine too. Am giving it another shot now…I'm just gonna leave that window in focus and go do something else. Will post results.
Sorry guys. I don't know whats going on. I know this isn't a uncommon problem, so there's no telling what could be going wrong.
The only other possible suggestions I could make are waiting standing up and waiting sitting down and interacting with as everything in the sub. When you're sitting, interact with the control panel and then try waiting (standing and sitting)… best of luck to the two of you?
Ah, nevermind. It was a browser issues.
How exactly can you open this game up in rpgmaker? I have 2003 downloaded but I dont see any project files
I'm having a little bug with the eyeball bomb effect. Every time I press the action button to use it, the game freezes and I have to close it manually. This didn't happen before I installed the latest update, so I'm a bit surprised.
Buyobi has found a possible solution to this submarine problem!
While waiting, sit in the chair, and just sit and wait.
It's probably that, because I was waiting for twenty minutes until I sat in it, and then WHOOPS three seconds later and the submarine slowed.
You might want to rename the folder, so it doesn'r contain non-ASCII characters.
Seeing as nobody really answered this is this still happening to you? It never happened to me before but suddenly now that I'm using .095i it's started happening. Thing is I haven't changed the way I've been unzipping these games or anything so why now? Also I can never get Tapir-san's place to work after I chainsaw his back the game crashes every time.
You have to install it running command prompt as an administrator. Any other way, and it won't work at all.
Alternatively, you can change your locale to Japanese.
I see, thank you, how would I do that? I have command prompt opened, but what do I type?
Type in the directory path. C:\Users\Blah\Downloads\papploc.msi or whatever.
If your system locale is set to japanese, you do not need applocale.
Mine is set to japanese as well (so I can properly show myself playing the games on steam).
Oh heavens, no. It's a very new version of the game; the last translated version I think was .075 or something, but don't quote me on that.
whoa! alrighty, thanks anyways! would there be anyway to use the translation to translate all of the old stuff?
also, how do I use the effects?
There's absolutely nothing you can do to apply files from an old translated version to make it compatible with 096a, bar cracking it open and translating it yourself (which would be fruitless, since there are already a group of folks working on one)
To use effects, get the effects and you can select the one you want from the first menu option (which read's Efekuto in katakana; and many of the effects' names are also written in katakana). You can't use them if you're awake, however.
ahhh okay, thank you!
I have the game all set up, Japanese settings and all that, and it opens fine but then stops working at the fade to black at the "project yume 2kki" screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?
i'm having the same problem as >>35
the game opens in full screen, goes black, and reverts to windowed mode with this error
i downloaded the RPG_RT.lmt linked from >>37
and put it in the main folder, and nothing changed.
nevermind about the post above this one
i downloaded another RPG_RT from http://c0rs3t.tumblr.com/post/13221309912/how-to-install-flow0-15
i've been playing for about 15 minutes total, and i've encountered 2 errors so far. one in the upstairs area of the inn (in the town with the creepy smiling geisha at the front desk), and one when i try to go into the dream apartment door.
i only got a screenshot of the error at the inn
i was told i should try a patch of .096b, but i don't see one on the loda page
I switched to the newest version (96b) and this still happens (title screen okay, freze on "project yume 2kki" screen).
Still no suggestions?
fixed~! but I have another question that's easy to answer
what's the command to use an effect? I've been trying everything but I can't seem do slide with the penguin effect
Either Enter or Shift, iirc. You may need to hold the button down for a couple of seconds or so.
I was using 2kki ver 0.095d and one day i noticed that my bike effect was gone. I had my other effects, but not the bike. If I go to the place where you get the effect and interact with the bike there, nothing happens. I'm not sure how to get it again, short of starting a new game and getting it (which does work). If I did that, however, I wouldn't have all the other 20 effects I got. Help??
I was wondering
is it normal to crash when chainsawing the diaper badger too much and when interacting with one painting (I think the orange ball-like painting) in the museum? because I crash there, and since I've heard some areas aren't implemented…
Update: it seems the area where you get the spring effect crashes me too, can anyone confirm if this is normal? or should I just redownload?
Just got the spring effect a few minutes ago, everything was fine for me.
Okay so whenever I try to extract all the data from the new 96b I get a prompt from winrar with about twenty different errors from renaming to create.
With all this happening I'm missing sounds and the all around ability to play since cannot enter doors in the nexus.
Be sure it is Japanese locale too
So whenever I try to go to the Sky Kingdom or Chainsaw Tapir-san's back, my game always crashes. It's done this for .096a, .096b and now .096c. I'm running on Japanese locale, so am I missing some files or?
whenever i try to go to the sky kingdom through the apartments this always shows up and i have no clue what it means. i have tried redownloading, reinstalling, trying single files downloads, trying multiple file downloads and nothing works. so any idea what's wrong?
Different poster same problem. Here's the thing though it worked perfectly till about update .095 versions. I first started playing .094e and I had no problem entering sky kingdom anywhere (always had a problem with Tapir's place though). Then next time I updated I couldn't enter. I waited a bit and I'm still not getting anywhere. I've tried everything here >>724
It's some kind of "file does not open" sort of thing. Here's the one I got for Tapir's place along with my translations (pictured). It says roughly the same thing with the sky place but instead "sky 1 does not open". Honestly I'd just up and given up ever getting this fixed because I thought it was just me.
I download all the parts from loda (including patches) and run it to make a single file, stick a .exe file in the folder, and play it as is. I then usually take my save data and copy/paste it over from the old game to the new game and delete the old version. I've also tried it without importing my save data and I get the same results.
I've also tried using the single file one like in >>648
thinking that maybe I had a problem downloading them but nope same thing happens regardless of which one I download.
I will say this though, I could never get Applocale to work for me. It absolutely refused to install in my computer see >>2416 from fangames board help thread. This never seems to have hindered any other Japanese fangame I've downloaded and played so I figured I was fine.
Okay, I'm sorry if this has been asked somewhere and that this is a retarded question, but how do change the window size of 2kki? It always comes up full screen and of course has no minimize buttons or anything.
It only has two modes: windowed and fullscreen. You can switch between these modes by Alt+Enter.
Yup, what >>772
Or you could press f4, since that's what I do.
Whatever makes you happy!
Apparently, it's 0.096c, but for some reason, it has been removed from all uploaders after a short time. So the latest available version is 0.096b.
No they just changed uploaders, you can still download 0.096c.
From where? As far as I know, the two official sites are loda.jp and uploader.jp/getuploader. Neither of these have 0.096c.
It pays to look through the board.
It's still kind of fishy, though, since it's not in either of the official uploaders anymore. I guess it wasn't meant to be a public release.
Made a thread with some helpful stuff at >>795
. I don't really know if that wiki is really official, though, as I don't even remember where I found it, but it's pretty helpful.
By the way, 0.096d (with this weird link) and 0.096e are out.
That wiki is mentioned on the title screen, so it must be official.
I was talking about http://www31.atwiki.jp/sindame/
though. I just noticed they're both wikis oops
I think a link to that one can be found on the official site, but I'm not too sure.
Not the Anon who first posted about sky palace, but I too have exactly the same issue. And I didn't do any updates, this is my first time playing 2kki.
Am on v0.096c, and have tried downloading RPG2000 rtps from a couple of sources by now to no avail. Sigh.
hey, could someone list what the effects are in the order they are in the menu? just for uh future reference and that ahaha
As of 0.096g:
Motorbike | Boy
Chainsaw | Miner lamp
Fairy | Spacesuit
Glasses | Rainbow
Wolf | Eye-bomb
Telephone | Maiko
Twintail | Penguin
Bug | Spring
Invisible | Gakuran
Crippled | Tall
Haniwa | Trombone
Cake | Child
LRRH | Tissue box
Lowpoly | Marginal Vivid Worker
Hey this is for anyone having trouble getting into the sky kingdom. http://uboachan.net/tkki/res/13.html#19
Go here and it has the file you need. Just save the picture as 空1 in the panorama and your problem will be fixed!
Now as for the Tapir-san missing file, I don't have that I'm sorry!
But if someone has the file missing in >>732
's post, it would be a big help if you posted it for all of us! ;u;
THANK YOUUUUUUUU! It totally works now ;w;
I just went back to Tapir-san's place to copy the message and we're looking for a file called "宇宙"
really you could just settle for cloning a similar starry-sky picture from the RTP and calling it that. s'what i wound up doing. doesn't really detract too much.
Yeah I ended up doing just that shortly after posting that. It felt so simple a solution after such a long time of searching D:
Regardless I'm happy that it's been essentially fixed. I just have to remember to re-fix it every new version
Why is this such a pain in the dick to run?
Because you have displeased the 2kki gods. And partially because this is a collaborative beta project, so how smoothly it runs and how bug-free it is depends largely on communication between developers, attentiveness, and spare time.
Also keep in mind that this is the English speaking side of the Yume 2kki community. Running a program/game that is largely dependent on a different language is always going to have some sort of setbacks to it.
I uploaded it to Dropbox for you all.
You forgot the part about Applocale I think.
I just wanted to help other people, please understand it. It's not exactly a guide, I've just described the way how you can obtain the effect in version 0.096(b, don't know if in other 0.096s the location is changed). About the part with the light, or whatever it is - at the beginning I was trying to do as you said, but it didn't work, so yeah. Maybe it's just me, sorry.
Btw I started learning English only a few years ago, so my grammar may be really bad. Yeah, foreigner.
Anyway, I didn't meant to write any PRO guide or anything, all I wanted was helping others, because I've read a few help request.
And of course! Wiki was optional, I don't think it's necessary, so I rather won't do that myself.
Well, I think that's all.
Oh, not here. All the time I tried to reply to the good thread, my post was discarded and now it appeared here… Well, strange.
Please delete, anyone.
I have this problem too, using 0.097d
Can somebody reupload >>37
I have the same isssue…
Try just changing your computer's locale to Japanese. You shouldn't need to use applocale after that - at least, most people don't.
You don't have to change the entire language of your Windows, if that's what you're doing.
Did you follow the guide?
1. install papplocale
2. install the .reg file
3. now everytime you right click on ANY executable file on your PC, there will be an option "run in japanese locale".
4. Open the installer USING THAT.
5. Characters should look normal now.
If you want help, you'll have to be a little more specific. Is it giving you any error messages?
With the newest version I can't find the lantern effect no more >:/
All it does is take me to this dirt apartment-like area and after exploring it I could only find a chicken-man and a P/A Tongue Girl, along with other NPCs.
It's still in that area. It's kinda hard to see, but there are more paths and one eventually leads to the lantern.
You have to right-click on the RPG_RT and select "Locale Japanese". It will appear if you installed AppLocale correctly.
Late you're welcome is late, but yw!
hello I have tried to download the 0.098b file many times, and each time the download cuts off at 9%. I have tried with different download managers.
Is there someone who could mirror this latest version for me please? Maybe mediafire?
Okies dude, I started uploading. and GOD is it slow.
0.098C is out
Okay, I keep getting a missing file error every time I try to go through tapir-sans back. What should I do?
This should fix the Forest Carnival issue.http://uboachan.net/tkki/res/13.html#19
This should solve the Sky Kingdom issue.
You're gonna have to be more specific on the sound issues. Did you extract everything right?
sorry for that post, wrong thread, can someone delete it?
this one too, please
So I downloaded all 5 parts of 0.098h, it all unzips fine, but about 20% in the installation an error message pops up - something about a 0722_3.wav file not being there - and installation won't complete. Any pointers? Have AppLocale, Japanese setup and all that jazz.
Try re-downloading the part that had the faulty file in and extract it again. That always works for me.
the original link tot he .lmt is broken, and I need it. Can anybody reupload the .lmt file fore me?
I get a file not found error when I go to the school from the apartments. Does anyone have the file?
I had that error before but the only thing i needed to change was the rpg_rt exe
If you download the latest version you shouldnt get that issue
I had the issue with the sky kingdom and tapir-san's place and grabbing the images needed and giving them the proper filenames fixed the problem.
I found a way to get into the school from the blue forest though.
A couple of things…
If I chainsaw the girl in the box and the eye doctor, are they dead permanently?
Also, I have all the effects except the trombone effect. When I try to chainsaw the zippers in the baddies bar, the chainsaw doesn't do anything. Has the effect been moved, or is this an error?
The lantern effect opens the zippers, not the chainsaw.
For some reason, when I press the X key to back out of the menu/computer/etc it doesn't work. This has rendered the game essentially unplayable and I have no idea what I did to cause it or how to fix it. Any ideas?
The waveup minigave seems to crash the game on version 0.99e. Is this a version problem or do I have some file at fault?
Different person, would like confirmation on whether or not Eye doctor/megasuri uri and Hakoko are dead permanently as well since if it's true, my chances of getting all the kura puzzles are ruined. >>1567
From what I know, Wavy Up is under construction for a while and isn't playable in the later versions.
The link to the game download seems to have gone dead…
It's down for me too. Is there a mirror somewhere?
How do you update without losing all of your effects and all that jazz and starting over?
You just copy your save from the lost version, it will update itself. Some effects may be lost in the process, though.
Save files should be right at the bottom of the main folder, underneath the map files. Look for Save01.lsd, Save02.lsd, etc. Just pick the one you want to transfer and copy it into your new game files.
I figured out that I had accidentally put my main old Y2kki folder in my programs folder while the folder I was looking in for my save file was a copy that was in my documents folder.
Thank you for dealing with my dumb, kind anon
the bike effect is still there. They just moved it to another spot on the same map.
Thankfully I still have the bike effect from a previous version, but I was just curious because it led to a funny situation between a friend who I got to try 2kki.
I've heard that it's in some tunnel or something like that, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
Denied. It's really at the very same map. Go into a place innit where there's a lot of little sprouts, then walk northwest to find the bike between six big sprouts and four little ones arranged in a circle.
Don't chainsaw Tapir-san
What's the matter? Did you run into some trouble trying to get it working? Theorically it should work.
For the thousandth time, install the RPG Maker 2000 RTP.http://archive.uboachan.net/media/res/758.xhtml#758
Seriously, does no one read instructions anymore?
I get this error when trying to run RPG2000RTP.exe, I tried to run it through cmd.exe as administrator, but it's the same.
I used the one coming from here.http://archive.uboachan.net/media/res/758.xhtml#758
I also tried with 2000rtp.exe but I get an "Open ERROR".
I got it working on Windows 8 today.
I went through hell, but found out it was pretty easy in the end. The main problem is that AppLocale doesn't work properly in Win8, so you have to right-click it, and set it's compatibility mode to Windows XP. Then it works as intended.
Also for some reason, when I tried running 2kki I kept getting a DDraw error, but in the end I had to run a "start.exe" file that was around. Then the game started in windowed and worked perfectly.
So yeah, it runs fine in Windows 8.
I actually made the first step-by-step tutorial on installing 2kki. Then the other guy adapted it for the wiki. Might as well help with Win8 now, since I'm using it and I got it to work.
1. Install AppLocale.
2. Open the start menu. Type "AppLocale"
3. When it appears DO NOT RUN IT. Right-click it, then choose "open file location" at the bottom.
4. Now, right-click the AppLocale shortcut that appears, and choose properties.
5. Go to the compatibility tab and choose Win XP SP3.
– I have no idea if the following part is necessary, but I did it anyway. –
Installing the Japanese language support:
1. Now go to the Control Panel (you can do this by right-clicking the place where the start menu orb used to be, on the bottom-left corner of the screen).
2. Under "Clock, Language and Region" there's an option to add a language. Click it.
3. On the screen that shows up, click the "Add a language" button.
4. Pick Japanese.
5. It'll appear on the list BUT IT'S STILL NOT INSTALLED. Click "options" next to it, then "install this language" or something like that.
6. Be careful not to choose to use it as the main language. If you do this, your Windows will be all in japanese.
– I actually tried having my Windows in japanese, so I could install everything without using applocale but it DID NOT WORK! You really have to use AppLocale. –
Install the context menu extension:
1. Download the file http://www.hongfire.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=86298&d=1208143928
2. Unzip it.
3. Double-click "install.reg".
4. Click "yes".
This will allow you to run any file in japanese-mode, by right-clicking the file and choosing "Japanese Locale". You -MUST- install both the japanese RTP2000 and 2kki by doing this, or else your PC will mess up the filenames and nothing will work properly.
– I didn't use pAppLocale in this tutorial, but it worked just fine with the regular AppLocale. There were no annoying pop-ups or anything like that. –
Now, just follow the regular instructions to install the japanese RTP2000, and then you can download and run 2kki.
It's also important to note that when unzipping 2kki, you must RUN WINRAR USING THE JAPANESE LOCALE. In Win8, just go to the start menu, type "winrar", open it's file directory, right click it and choose "japanese locale". Then, just browse to where your 2kki zip file is and unzip it.
The newest version of 2kki has a "start.exe" file, you have to open it with AppLocale
Now we need Windows 8 installation instructions for AppLocale.
Also, I am contacting Earth from an alien console known as the 3DS.
Have you guys tried right-clicking it -> compatibility mode -> win xp SP3?
If you mean .99h, I have no idea what could be causing you to have difficulties reaching the site. Have you tried this link? http://yui.oopsup.com/yume2kkifileupNo4/
And as far as I know, there is no English version yet.
I suppose you got it to work, huh?
TELL ME YOUR WAYS!
Oh would you look at that.
Fail spoiler tag.
Did you ever try changing your computer's system locale to Japanese through the "Regional and Language" settings within the control panel? While applocale works for a lot of games, it isn't perfect, and sometimes fails with certain games or operating systems; changing the system locale tends to be much more reliable.
I'm sorry, just because no one helped you in /fg/ doesn't mean you have to double post.
Unless it has to do with Yume 2kki being a bitch and all, then you're in the right place my friend!
Welcome to Uboachan, where people actually help each other out.
What doesn't intall? The AppLocale? Just right-click the goddamn instalation file and set compatibility mode to WinXP, if you're using Win8.
It's not hard. Find the .exe that installs applocale -> right-click -> properties -> compatibility tab -> WinXP sp3
I know that feel bro,
I know that feel.
>OMG! I SOLVED MY PROBLEM!
No you haven't
I am grateful that you were able to play it.
I feel envy at the same time too.
But I feel that this emptiness will soon come to a close, for I have found a lead…
I still have this problem and I can't select that text to paste it on google translate to know what it means.
I've fixed all the issues I was having with the game crashing except for one involving the strange little School Girl mini-game? Anytime I try to play it, the game crashes with a message indicating all sorts of special characters that just show up as empty boxes, so I'm kind of lost on how to figure out the location of a missing file.
Huh. Still works fine on my Vista. Guess I'll just have to keep playing it on here instead of on my windows 8. Too bad, but I guess that stops me from procrastinating too much while working.
Are you run Yume 2kki with Applocale?
I never get this error, but, maybe, it crashes because of applocale.
Also, you can download English version of Yume 2kki. Maybe it'll work.
Not guy who posted above but…
English version? I can only find a patch to translate not the game itself in English.
Feel kinda stupid but I figured out how to be a bit more coherent with my question. >w>;
The mini game that isn't working, "Wavy Up", doesn't crash the game but it just freezes when I try to play it. I guess it's the beginning of the game, I just see the girl standing outside of a building at night, and she won't move or do anything no matter what I press. Quitting the game is the only way to get out.>>1808
I don't know much about getting these games to work, but which worlds are you entering that make the game crash? Do they do it consistently or just every once in a while?>>1810
The version of .100 that I downloaded has… *most* of the things translated without a patch, I think. The menus and Computer Screens are translated, but a lot of other things are still in Japanese. I got it from a media fire link somewhere in one of the other threads on the first page of /tkki/.
i think i broke my game
the entrance to green neon world via grass world isn't working for me
as in, i go inside the building that's meant to go to grass world but it doesnt teleport me
is it because im using a save from a previous version that could be causing it to glitch?
i'm just trying to get to the cog maze, man.
oh hey i can post again
so apparently im just retarded and it's not supposed to actually teleport as in fade in fade out
it teleported me without my knowing
confusing as shit
I have a really stupid question. How do you enter fullscreen mode in RPG maker games?
How do you transfer save files from one version to the next?
Is it even a good idea going from .95 to .100?
You just copy & paste the files named "Save01.lsd", "Save02.lsd", and so on.
As for whether or not it's a good idea, it kind of depends on what changes were made between versions. In most cases, I figure it's unlikely to break anything, especially in a game like Yume 2kki, though it's hard to know for certain without knowing what changed between those versions.
I got this error message and a few lines of dialogue with two options. I can't read Japanese so I just clicked whatever the first was. For some reason I had 27 effects and it went down to 25. Is this normal?
Also is there a translation out there? I forget what all these effects are.
Here's the english version of .100a, thanks to PsiWolf and Merihttp://www.mediafire.com/download/rug8mpf8349ajwv/Yume2kki_ver0.100a_eng.rar
And don't worry about that "error message", it pops up every time you move your save to a newer version and I think it's just cosmetic
I can't access t his face. When I try to enter a soundeffect saying something in japanese that sounds like "Yometi" plays and won't do anything.
Also in the dressing room the NPCs aren't there. (I went there earlier before I transferred save and they were there.)
Not sure if I can enter this red face in a previous save because I need a bunch of effects to get here.
Wait I thought you just had to interact with the object in geometry world to get it but I ended up doing it wrong. I'm not deleting this post though because it's just weird that it vanished from my inventory.
It's like…penises are repelled by me….
You have to keep on interacting with it until you'll eventually hear that little Chaser-catching sound and the screen will fade out. It can take several tries, it's a random chance event I think, but it always makes that sound effect.
For those who getting that error they don't have 2000 RTP installed. That is an actual program you need to instal on your windows.
Maybe the installer can't find part 2? Make sure it's got its default name and that you've downloaded both parts of course. Should install fine if they're in the same folder
What's the default name?
Nevermind. I got it.
But! How do I install the path?
Just move the files in the "yume2kki_ver0100a_patch01" folder to the folder where your yume 2kki files are (where Map0001.lmu etc. are)
Okay, so about this.
it doesn't work.
I can't go around, because it's essentially a no-walk zone. am I supposed to have anything prior to attempting this?
Err, that pic's wrong. You go UNDER the traffic cones
anyone know where the blob-bunny went?
I just went through the whole book return thing, but when I go up the ladder to the moon platform, there's no bunny. I don't know how else I'm supposed to get the usamimi effect. I'm playing the latest version.
For people trying to play on Windows 8, I've been trying for months and today I finally got it. All I did was download and install this.http://archive.uboachan.net/media/res/758.xhtml#758
I hope it works for you, too.
Whenever I try to download 0.100, I can only download part 1, part 2 and the patch take me back to the main page for the downloads. Is something wrong with the files? I can't read Japanese yet so I don't know what the error is. http://yui.oopsup.com/yume2kkifileupNo5/
Are there maybe mirrors for the files? Or, could someone put all the files in a rar and upload it for me? I'd appreciate it.
Picture totally unrelated, but I thought it might help some of you who have pets. If there's an emergency or something. :)
will this work on my fish?
Could it be that it's named RPG_RT (1).exe instead of RPG_RT.exe? Or maybe you need to reinstall your RPG Maker 2k RTP? You could also try setting your non-unicode program language to Japanese instead of using AppLocale, that's what I do
Hey, just a tip for anyone that has errors; this is what the missing file error looks like, so you can differentiate it from other errors. You can also paste what the missing filename is on here and someone with a working game can search their game folder for it.
The troubleshooting page on the wiki has also been updated with some common errors posted here, so you can look here before posting to see if it's already been solved:http://yume2kki.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
Really? Well, ok. I hope I helped anyways if it happens again. There's also a new patch released, but it might be for the music files.
Anyone got a mirror of contextmenu.reg? Hongfire has been down for an indeterminate period.
When I use RPG_RT.exe, I get a black window named 'Untitled' and and error saying: ???? C:\Yume 2kki\Yume2kki_ver0.100a\??2??\RPG_RT.lmt ??????
change the name of any folder which has something written in japanese nto something in english that your computer is able to read.
Hello I just Updated to Version 0.100d, and certain sounds refuse to play.
Some of these are < But not limited to>
The Keyhole door movment sound
The 'Barking' dogs
Please help, I see many people have this issue but it has never been explicitly been solved.
Turns Out I was using RPG Maker 2003 RTP, not 2K RTP.
Check that the RTP is installed to begin with AND that its the japanse untranslated version.
For some god-awful reason Yume-2kki's start.exe decided to become a .tmp file after having and playing it for a year making running it from anywhere but the default rpg maker .exe impossible. getting a new one from a new .Rar file very quickly changes it into a new .tmp file. renaming it to start.exe doesn't work and changes it to a .tmp file again.
I had to read your post a few times to understand it.
I'd suggest you to get rid of everything you have in your 2kki folder, expect the save files, download it again and move those files into the new folder. Before that, I recommend you to check what things have changed from your version to the new one, since if an effect location changes, your game may crash and those saves won't work.
You've got a missing file.
I can't exactly read the name because there's mojibake and I can't figure out what it is, but basically that. Maybe you should try downloading a newer version.
Does anyone has any idea of how to fix the enormous lag in the Deserted Town area?
Dunno… and considering I would love to explore it, We need a fix. IMO, I think its the size of the map, the amount of events going on, and the fog doing it.
If I recall the whole opening shindig is just a short explanation of the game and what it is.
Something along the lines of "yume 2kki is a yume nikki fangame and a collaboration between many many people from 2ch. There is no set direction story-wise. If you speak decent Japanese you can always pitch in too since we're always in need of artists, programmers, etc."
I could be missing something, but that's about it.
I found a solution. Open the task manager on windows and assign a higher priority to the RPG_RT. That should fix the lag.
I couldn't get the RTP to install, but I have found, what appears to be, a good alternitive to the RTP Installer.
I'm using Windows7 Ultimate x64.
I've tried to whole shebang, running as admin, WindowsXP compatibility, the AppLocale app, etc.
However, I simply could NOT get it to work.
This is what would happen;
I'd start up RPG2000RTP.exe
After it extracted all the setup files, it would give a 0x80040707 error.
Pressing OK, it would finish initializing the installer, then give the same error.
After both of those errors, the installer would finally pop up, blue screen and all.
Clicking next would bring me to the "Install Directory" window. Here, if I clicked okay, this error would appear: 不明のｴﾗｰが発生しました。
Which, apparently roughly translates into "Unknown Error", and the installer would crash.
After abit of googling, apparently that is some kind of bug with the installer itself, or with InstallShield.
Keep in mind, I could see Japanese lettering fine. If you are still seeing weird symbols or squares, you probably just need to install Japanese or use AppLocale.
Here is my workaround. This 'should' work as a backup plan for anyone if the installer simply doesn't work. It's a bit of a pain to do, but it works. What you're doing is pretty much installing the RTP manually.
Make a new folder anywhere. Just in case, try to make sure the folder path has no spaces (IE "C:\Users\You\Desktop\FolderName"). It might work with spaces, but just in case, leave them out.
Next download the RTP if you haven't, and also download UniExtractor, which can be found here:http://legroom.net/scripts/download.php?file=uniextract161_noinst
If the link dies and you need to find it yourself, get the portable version, not the installer. It doesn't 'really' matter, but for ease of use, the portable version is nice.
If the RTP is packaged in something (.rar, .zip, a .exe package), extract it so the RTP is "RPG2000RTP.exe" by itself. Then extract all of UniExtractors files somewhere as well.
Then move all of the files into the new folder you made. The contents of the folder should now be: UniExtract.exe, RPG2000RTP.exe, Bin(Folder), and some misc stuff from UniExtract.
Now, drag and drop RPG2000RTP.exe onto UniExtract and hit Ok, give it a second and hit "Isxunpack Extraction"(Default option) and hit Ok again.
Give it a second and it should've now made some new files (Located in the folder you made).
Next, drag and drop data1.cab into UniExtract.exe and hit Ok again. This time, it should take quite abit longer. There will be a error at the end, but I don't think anything is broken by it. So hit Cancel at the error.
Now, everything that is located in the new "Data1" folder is the entire RTP. Inside the folder should be the final "RTP" folder.
If there is no "RTP" folder, make sure you extracted the .cab, not the .hdr.
You may rename this folder if you wish (Data1, not RTP).
Take the folder and put it somewhere out of the way. Such as in C:\Program Files\. Or just C:\.
In my example, I put it in Program Files. So the directory tree looks like this: "C:\Program Files\(Renamed)RPG2K\RTP\*"
Almost there, the annoying part is done.
Start up RegEdit. You can do this by hitting Windowskey+R, typing in RegEdit.exe and hitting enter.
wiggle your way to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ASCII\RPG2000
If it's not there, right click>New Key and create the 'folders' until you get to the RPG2000 folder.
Now, with RPG2000 selected, on the right window, right click > new > String Value.
Name the new object "RuntimePackagePath", hit enter and double click on it. Keep note that the String name and 'key structure' 'is' important. So mind those typos.
Enter the path to the RTP folder into it, within quotes and (For some reason) double backslashes.
For example, mine was: "C:\\Program Files\\RPG2K\\RTP\\"
And finally, you are finished.
What you're doing here is essentially installing the RTP yourself, so it's quite a bit out of the way.
However, if you were getting the same errors I was, of if some other thing is happening, this might be the only way around it.
But yeah, figured I'd share. I hope this helps someone in the future.
I've been trying to download version 100i, but the Japanese characters in the filenames keep coming out as garbled nonsense instead of actual characters. I've tried using Japanese locale to download it/extract it with, but that hasn't worked. Any ideas on how I could fix this?
Applocale or manually changing the locale to jap?
I've tried both. Neither have worked.
BTW, if it's any help, I'm using 7-zip as my file archiver.
Try with winrar. 7.zip has an horrible bug that corrupts certain files during the decompression process.
If that doesn't work I have no idea what could be going wrong with your case. I suggest gentoo.
I doubt it's that. I haven't been extracting the files – just opening and checking them in the archiver. I tried downloading using winrar and Japanese locale, and still got the corrupted filenames, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the files themselves than the archiver.
I downloaded both apploc and papploc but both failed much like >>397
with the same failed command prompt results as well
So I tried the Japanese Locale way but even then my laptop is being stupid about it (Windows 8) because whenever I right click the RPG exe file and select Japanese Locale, it asks me which app I would like to open it with
Whenever I try to run it normally without selecting the J/L it will have the random characters and question marks and fails halfway saying the file name, directory name, or volume label name is incorrect.
It's kind of strange how Yume Nikki was so easy to download but Yume 2kki is the most troublesome.
Unrelated options that won't even work with the exe file, but of course it shouldn't need any apps because it should run itself since it is an exe file.
Which is why it's so confusing to me. Out of curiosity of what would happen, I choose the same file to be "opened" with it but it froze the window.
I think I'll try it on my older windows computer which is Windows 7 so hopefully I'll have better luck on that one.
Is there some reason this Shift effect menu won't work for me? I'm using the latest version but shift does nothing.
Recently downloaded 100i, but it won't let me start because I'm missing the "は開けません" file. Does anyone have this file they could upload here or any information on which folder it goes into?
actually means "cannot be opened".
What you're looking for would be "ファイルXXX
は開けません。", where the "XXX" would be the filename.
If you don't post what file you're missing we cannot help you. And, if 2kki is giving this you with many, many files, I suggest to try downloading it again.
Ah, clearly I read the error message wrong. Here's what I got:
ファイル システム は開けません
I believe "システム" here is the actual file in question?
Yes. 「システム」 means system
. I personally don't have the file, sorry.
I get this too, it's strange. Anyone know what's up?
Please someone figure this out, I'm having the exact same problem
I really wouldn't suggest windows 8 for anyone really…
but if you are going to keep it you could change your system locale to japanese so that you don't have to use the external.
someone needs to make a front-end to this thing really. With all the trouble people have.
Why don't you do it yourself?
Did you use 'Enter/Return' while walking instead of 'Z'?
It's a common glitch in RPGMaker games as far as I know.
I'm not smart enough <:c
I don't know, but that seems like something I would do.
So how do I fix it, assuming that was the problem? Just use Enter while walking again, or reinstall?
use enter while walking. NEVER.
Every time this happened to me I was able to fix it after hit Ctrl+Enter and passing from full-screen mode to windowed, or vice versa.
I'd say that if it didn't fix itself after closing the application and even turning your computer off then you should reinstall and move your save files.
Is there any kind of problem? I think I just rapidly pressed z everytime I transfer saves to a newer version and it seems to work.
Nothing too obvious, but for example, the nexus sometimes looks different, and sometimes reverts to its original state.
Also the third staircase in the dream apartments seems to be closed off for some reason
Well the nexus changing to and fro is a change. You have to access the staircase from the back in the dream apartments I believe.
Nevertheless, I think you don't really have a problem with switching to a newer version. Have fun playing.
Oh, and when i start a new game, an empty space appears in the nexus. When i load my previous game, the space isn't there.
Ah, the quick effect shift function is also disabled, do i have to enable this manually?
So, not an installation problem but still technical. I gave up on getting to the Gallery of Me in game, but still want to see it. What operations do I have to undertake so that I can open Y2K in RPG maker, and what variable do I have to change so that I can access the gallery, let's say, everytime I wake up?
Sorry for the doube-post, but I copied the システム.png file and pasted it into the system file in 2kki .101. It still gave me the same message. Not sure what I did wrong. Can someone help me?
Pressing Z or Enter don't seem to be triggering the abilities of effects (i.e. doing a wheelie on a bicycle and sliding as a penguin). I've pressed every key and nothing seems to be working.
Man I love Crackle Cradle.
Stop using windows8.
I'm sure you guys have already dealt with this kind of stuff before, but I' having trouble with some of the sound files in Yume 2kki version 0.101c. In places like the Intestines Maze and the Graveyard World the usual music and sounds won't play. I checked the music folder for the game and realized some of these non-working files were midis so I went to the wiki and replaced them with .wav versions. Still not working. Any ideas? The game itself is working pretty much okay but like I said I'm not getting music/sound in some areas.
You have to run it in one of the compatibility modes, I don't remember which.
