No it's perfect.
Nothing really, if it's not made by Kikiyama it'd be just another fangame and we have tons of those. Then again Kiki is RIP.
The only thing that could improve YN in some remixed version would be a faster speed. YN's default one is terrible, I always tweak it. Leave as it is the rest.
I'd like to see something like that if it's "for fans by fans" but aside from adding the unused assets and effects YN doesn't need much.
Why glitches? Just open the damn thing in rpg maker and make mado go faster.
It's good as it is. The artwork still holds up after all of those years. No point in reinventing the wheel there.
All I can think of is removing that one traffic cone in the Mall, and adding an area there. I guess a more fluid code for the whole ladder/bench-effect interaction wouldn't hurt either. The rest is solid as it is.
>>6881>removing that one traffic cone in the Mall and adding an area there
There's already something pass that cone, don't you remember the witch event?
Wasn't there another one on a different floor? I admit, I can't remember shit since the last time I've played Nikki was forever and a half ago.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Holy shit can you stop with the Kikiyama is rip? First of all he no longer has access to that email. He can't log in and check for messages. Second if all, Yume Nikki was a fun time investment project, he did what he wanted to with the game until real life kept him too busy to continue working on the game.
This isn't a lisenced product or franchise so he didn't have ajy interest in continuing it so he just abandoned it. Third if all he has other priorities now, since years actually, since he actually has a family of his own.
This was just a fun and innocent project he did as a young adult and while he was getting a degree or whatever it's called in japan. The reason there is no story in Yume Nikki is because he didn't want to bother with one, he had ideas for bizzare and obscure environments but not for a plot if sorts. Many ideas were taken from a fan made MOTHER project he thought of years before making Yume Nikki. He appreciates the fan games and dedicated community but has no time or reason to come back. He's moved on with his life because of adulthood. He's still around under another name on japanese websites but there's no point in returning because he'd be unable to prove his identity since he lost the password to his email.
That's all. Now can this bullshit please just fuckin stop already?
Where are you getting all this, or did you just make it all up?
>>6886>First of all he no longer has access to that email. He can't log in and check for messages.
How do you know that?>Yume Nikki was a fun time investment project, he did what he wanted to with the game until real life kept him too busy to continue working on the game.
How do you know that?>This isn't a lisenced product or franchise so he didn't have ajy interest in continuing it so he just abandoned it.
How do you know that? Also, he developed it for many years so that alone is a hint that you're wrong. Just a hint though, I know nothing about them, like you.>Third if all he has other priorities now, since years actually, since he actually has a family of his own.
How do you know that? and how do you know Kikiyama is a boy?>The reason there is no story in Yume Nikki is because he didn't want to bother with one, he had ideas for bizzare and obscure environments but not for a plot if sorts.
How do you know that? Okay let's stop there I'm tired of greentext, how the FUCK do you know all of this? It just sound like a big pile of bullshit you invented.
>>6886>under another name on japanese websites
link it my good friend
You are the second faggot this past 2 years claiming to have found anything about him without anything backing up your words. Can you give me some contact mail, or any of those usernames he's bound to still check?
Plot twist: Kikiyama's new identity was Koronba .
Rest in peace in peace?
flashbacks from the uboachan project oh boy
This is all wrong, you know nothing. I know the actual story about what happened to Kikiyama and I'm ready to tell it.
Me and Kikiyama used to have sex all the time. He would work on Yume Nikki all day everyday then come in my room and ejaculate inside me. This was his entire life. Though as time went on I noticed his penis (which is really big by the way) started to get more and more… Soft. After version 10 was released he stopped having erections, he was always flaccid. He stopped making Yume Nikki, because of this and obviously stopped having sex with me everyday. All your information is wrong, the truth is that he just had some major erectile dysfunction and can no longer do anything.
So Madotsuki WAS a self insert.
(S)he was insecure about her dick and ubuu's constant rape.
That's the (shitty) joke.
theory. you cracked the code. amazing.>>6896
RIP sweet cripple you deserved better ):
I had a very bad idea that would ruin the whole game but that i desire so much. Yume Nikki Online
I play .flow in EasyRPG for Android and this utility has fast forward button, but then I understood: this is cheating. The game is supposed to slowly push at your mind and to make you lose it, so when you skip areas quickly, you miss some part of the game. And even using the speed effect limits you, because you miss the possibility to play while wearing other effects. But AQUOR turned to be too slow and autistic even for me, so I used the fast forward button.
More like LSD Online, that game's aesthetic could actually work for an expanding multiplayer world. But even then the idea would get really stale after a while.
Ehh, I think not after all.
That's true, I've recently started a new playthrough abusing the speed glitch throughout, and the feeling is just completely different. It's like playing an adventure game when you know all the puzzle solutions by heart – not that exciting.
okay, in all these fucking years why hasn't ubuu just reclaimed WORLDS or something. it already exists, it's perfect fodder for the sort of idea you're going for, never seen the spoopypasta-whatever kids spend more than two minutes in the lobby before giving up, it's clearly not going anywhere any time soon…
can you not still build your own sims on it or is that the dealbreaker
I have not heard of WORLDS before, so I went and watched some gameplay of it, and the impression I'm getting is that it's sort of like Second Life but with a more tightly-knit community.
I would be down for something like that, and you're telling me kids find it boring? Shit dude, just the idea of a fandom that isn't swarming with middle schoolers makes me really fucking happy.
It's much older and lower-tech, but otherwise basically ye. Bigger issue is getting it to run properly on modern hardware. If some intrepid ubuu regular wants to step up and make like a dedicated sandbox client for it, might take off. Who knows?
Even if Kiki is dead, what happened to the Dream vs Dream team?
>>6930To be honest I've never really enojyed Lcd Dem, simply because there's pretty much no original ideas, just about everything is a rehash of something from the original. But then one day I thought to myself: what if Koronba IS in fact Kikiyama? That would explain the familiar concepts, and a new style would mean a new artistic experiment for them.
But yeah, it's just a silly joke ultimately.
I really like WORLDS but I'm not sure how to make maps on it or anything of the sort. It would be great if we could at least have a map there…
My only issue with worlds is that from what I can tell its users seem to know each other by their real life identities, but since you can create your own worlds I guess we could form our own network in isolation from the current community, eliminate all that inner circle shit and have a world for each dream world in yume nikki and the nexus. Wasn't someone on here trying to make a Yume Nikki world a while ago?
I like the idea but think of the negative followings it will have.
The whole appeal of online games is user to user interactivity and things never being the same, which are both counter intuitive to making something related to yn. Yume Nikki 3-d already exists, so why not play that or the original instead? I don't know much about worlds, but i'm assuming that you can talk to other players? Why talk there when you could talk on ubuu? Yume Nikki 3-d does that kind of lazy thing where the pixel dimensions are just transposed onto a 3-d environment. I'd much rather see a fully 3-d(polygons), n-64 style yume nikki version. I'm surprised that nobody has thought of that yet.
build your own inner circle.
it… feels like someone was? wouldn't remember. there were a couple 3d renditions of mado's room, one might've been worlds.
>>6971>I'd much rather see a fully 3-d(polygons), n-64 style yume nikki version. I'm surprised that nobody has thought of that yet.
Oh, no doubt people have thought about it. But considering the average age of the people who play Yume Nikki is below 18, I doubt any of such potential "developers" could even handle pseudo-3D, and let's not even mention anything remotely close to actual 3D with polygon models and all the physics a 3D environment involves. And those who actually could manage something like that aren't going to waste their time for free on something only a bunch of kids will play anyway.
Is making a mario 64 rom hack really that hard? I don't know anything about developing, but surely all of the more, "difficult parts", like developing the physics could be avoided in some way, right?
>>6975>Is making a mario 64 rom hack really that hard?
Don't know, can't answer.>I don't know anything about developing, but surely all of the more, "difficult parts", like developing the physics could be avoided in some way, right?
Using a free engine. But name me 1 person in all the fandom who actually can produce a game in unity/unreal/whatever and I may start believing it's a possibility somebody actually is as nuts as to waste their time on a game 10 people will play. If somebody actually ever wants to do it, of course.
A more likely thing that would happen is a mod of a PC game. The closest game that is like Super Mario 64 on the PC is the newly release A Hat in Time, which features mod support.
Another game that could be fun to mod would be Skyrim or maybe even Doom. Hell, I would accept a Yume Nikki themed Sonic rom hack. Or maybe a Sonic Generations mod with normal Madotsuki and chibi Madotsuki but that all kinda goes against the general feel of YN.
Games like skyrim wouldn't work because a lot of the appeal of Yume Nikki is its surrealism. A realistic art style would totally shatter that. The sonic generations idea is terrible and you should feel bad for coming up with it. Mario 64 already has a kind of eerie vibe to it and it's cartoonish art style is a perfect fit for yn.
To start off, unless Skyrim is not super moddable, I'd imagine you could make it more cartoony if you wanted to. And the Sonic Generations idea might be silly, yes, but it was a plausible one as well. It's not like I said, "Let's put Madotsuki in Senran Kagura!!"
Nintendo games tend to be pretty hard to mod, even popular games are kinda hard to do. The general point is that PC games being able to be modded fairly easily and can reach a ton of people too. But I will grant it to you Mario 64 is kinda eerie as you said.
Another advantage of mario 64 over skyrim is that a lot of the assets, like the snow, piano and grass, are already perfect. Everything would have to be changed in skyrim. Mario 64 is also fits better because it's kind of, "primitive", in a simmilar way to Yume Nikki. They both feel like something from the past. I really don't know how the total workload would compare. Either way I don't think anybody is going to step up to the plate.
