The Japanese YN fandom is going on and on about a possible 0.04 and 0.06 leak that is supposedly on some kind of disk… I… think? My Japanese is actually pretty bad, so I'm not sure if I'm even interpreting this all correctly.http://iss.ndl.go.jp/books/R100000002-I000008005629-00
^ This seems to be something quite a few people are linking to.https://twitter.com/ladybird0426
^ This guy is talking a lot about the older versions, though I'm having a rough time understanding him.
This could all just be a red herring, so I wouldn't get your hopes up, but maybe someone with better Japanese could comb through this stuff and see if it's anything worthwhile?
(pic related; it's supposedly a beta map.)
I remember when we warned the community about this.
You didn't listn
You called us crazy
Now it's too late
Every jew in the planet will imitate Surfers Paradise and get a piece of the goldmine YN is.
Don't call it a grave, it's the future you choose.
How in the world is this even remotely related to SP/fraud/etc.? All of this appears to be stemming from an 2005 magazine entitled "FreeGameStation! Vol.1" Apparently included in the magazine was a disc that *supposedly* has something related to versions 0.04/0.06 of YN. How true this is has yet to be seen, though I'm searching right now with little answers (right now it's pretty much exclusively the Japanese fans who are chatting about this while the few English fans who know are either skeptical, as seen in this very thread, or scratching their heads with confusion as to what this even is.)
The only thing that would make this even remotely-related would be if someone got a hold of the disc and then asked for an absurd amount of $$$ for it. Or if they started mass-producing the disc and sold those.
In any case, this is all still somewhat vague right now. For example, I still have no idea why it's all of a sudden now that this archaic magazine has surfaced.
So, you're gonna love this, right now a copy of the issue that supposedly has the beta version costs ￥29,800, which equates to about…. $242.12 (U.S.).
Right now, it's a matter of whether or not people are telling the truth when they're claiming that the old version is on this DVD in this specific issue. And to find out, that would mean purchasing the issue and finding out for sure. But, at that price… for something that may or may not even have it. Hmm. (fun story: I actually DID try and buy it, but that's because I mis-read the price as ￥2,900, or ~$20, which is still a bit high for a magazine, but I figured why not. But for nearly $250…? Eh, even *I* have my limits)
I know if I myself were to get my hands on this supposed "beta" version, then I'd happily share it with everyone on here for free. But I know how collectors can be, so even if it did have the beta, the people who get it will probably keep it to themselves and refuse to release it, or they'll just turn around and charge double what they bought it for.
But yeah, after checking the prices for this, I can see where you guys are coming from. I still wonder if it really does have the beta or not. I'll do a bit more digging around later on and report back if I find anything else.
Dude, for all we know he (or anybody) could just simply pick YN maps/resources up and modify/create them and then claim they're beta. I ain't trusting shit outta this or any "supposed" pre 0.10 version.
>I still wonder if it really does have the beta or not.
The game is freeware, if anyone claims they have any obscure material from the game and try to get shekels out of it, they are just scammers. The only way to trust that stuff is if, and only if kikiyama actually said something about it (and even then it wouldn't be okay to sell it), but he didn't even show himself up for fraud para stuff, so I really doubt he's even alive.
We said the same thing back in 2013 and nobody listened.
Kikiyama still hasn't confirmed he's ever participated with Surfer Paradise, and I really doubt he will ever talk about this magazine issue. But there's still people getting money out of YN and some fans blindly believing kiki is in cahoots with them, and now the japanese fandom seem to somehow believe in this story too, or it appears so from what I can read.
y u never listen ubushuuns?
Guys, that picture certainly belongs to a really old version. I mean, just reverse search it. You will find a blog showing that exact same area dating back to 2005.
If they can show a new picture of that area, I would say that's pretty legit though.
>>4852>If they can show a new picture of that area, I would say that's pretty legit though.
see >>4849>Dude, for all we know he (or anybody) could just simply pick YN maps/resources up and modify/create them and then claim they're beta.
You don't even need RPG Maker 2k3 to fake a Yume Nikki map.
In another words, there's no way to know if any supposedly older version of YN is the real thing, right?
the next thing we, as a collective fanbase should do is uncover the location of Kikiyama's corpse because that fucker is D-E-A-D
If Kiki has abandoned us, why is his website still up?
If kiki is alright, why hasn't he updated shit nor mentioned anything regarding yn and the "official" merchandise, manga, etc?>>4859
I forgot to put in that post>That's it, if he's even still alive.
isn't it on like, a public host?
if kiki was alive why haven't they made another game? hosted a music channel, something.
honestly i do like the enigma but yikes. where are they?
They have probably done other projects under a different name.
What the hell? Is it really HAPPENING?
Is he really Kikiyama?, or is he a fake? (where is japanese honorr then?)
Can a fake surpass the original?
oh wait, I misread it as yume nikki 0.4 instead
He's not Kiki; he's just some random dude who managed to get his hands on one of the acclaimed discs (for the record, there's two discs; one with 0.04 and the other with 0.06. This guy has 0.04.)
Also, he just got done streaming it. It seems as legit as legit can be. I got some screens/footage that I'll post a bit later after I get some sleep, but here's at least one thing for now.
he should fucking upload them
it's not like this person has any kind of claim to this, it'd basically be plagiarism if he tried to sell it, right?
come on man it's been 11 years
share the dreams
Anyone capable of reading the patch notes to see if it matches up?http://www3.nns.ne.jp/pri/tk-mto/kikiyamaHP.html
Yup, you don't need to do anything to keep it up, kiki could've died a long time ago and no one would know any better
He died during the earthquake years ago.
0.04 footage, curtesy of @DSSorcerer_ATU.
There's much more that he streamed last night, I'm currently trying to find a way to download the USTREAM where he showed off much more.
In the above video, you can see that the Ending is, even in this early state, exactly the same. In fact, many things are nearly identical in terms of overall concept and presentation, but there also appears to be many small differences here and there.>>4873
I'm gonna ask him, hopefully he'll be kind, but people can get weird with protos/betas and such. Even the Super Mario Kart (SNES) proto has, to my current knowledge, yet to be leaked despite someone purchasing it and even showing footage of it.
*….has yet to be DUMPED, not leaked. Sorry.
If you want to download the stream, just copy the link into a program called Any Video Converter.
The stream is here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/66211061
Any Video Converter is here:http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php

Uploaded the full stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFuW07XgQco
Thank you to >>4880
and many others for recommendations on programs to download the stream.
Also, I just asked the guy who streamed it a question. THE question. You all should know what I asked him. Here's hoping that he says "yes".
(oh, and many special thank-yous to Clyde "Tomato" Mandelin [https://twitter.com/ClydeMandelin
] for telling me how to ask him my question in proper Japanese.)
Thanks for doing this.
>>4891>Alright, Uboachan, you can commence to going on and on and on (and on, and on, and on, and on….) about how this is all a fake because he wouldn't give it out and all that stuff.
But I already started. >>4881
Thank you for trying anyways.
Everyone called it, shame anyway.
How disappointing. It's pretty obvious this guy just gets off on the feeling of having it all to himself, anyway.
